Hi there I'm New Here so I hope some one can help me out I use to have a big collection of N64 game until some one stolen them and the system. So I now pick up a system of ebay in great condition and I got a Everdrive 64 off retrogate last week, but my question is I pick up a Action Replay Professional also off ebay in great condition too. (Not that I need it to cheat but to make the games more harder and more fun.) Can I use the Action Replay Professional with the Everdrive 64 or the real question is can I use it without wrecking the Everdive, the action Replay or the system? Thank you if you can help me
I doubt it. ED64 doesn't like pass-through devices that messes with the game code. I think it is either this one or the Game Genie that gets written over by the ED64 thus making it useless unless you some how manage to flash the firmware on it. I wouldn't do it. Too risky to find out. If you REALLY need cheat support, get a 64Drive.
Does the 64Drive works with Cheat devices? I never tried it since I thought it would will the cartridge just like the Everdrive.
No it does not. Action Replay/GameShark will reflash itself with ED64 BIOS and that is it. I think the ED64 touches some "location", magic "header" or whathaveyou that makes the AR reflash. It was a feature of AR to be able to be reflashed from another AR, just stack them one on top of the other (I don't remember which one goes on top, the good or the bad). Anyway with ED64 somehow the AR/GS activates flashing mode and you end up with a useless AR.
I think it's possible to do stuff like flash AR between English and Japanese. Don't know where I heard something like that, or if there's any internal differences which may cause problems.
I was also thinking that too. That it would either flash something on the action replay or the everdrive 64 I was hope I could have the best of both world. As for the 64Drive I don't feel like paying more money for a device when the Everdrive 64 works so well. I might have to build up my collection of N64 games again. Then I can use them with the Actionreplay Thank for that guys
It's always possible that someone might write a program that allows the Everdrive 64 to use the cheat codes - someone might already have plans to do so. Otherwise, it's either buy a 64Drive, or buy the games you want to cheat in to use with your Action Replay, or use a PC/Mac emulator to play N64 games and cheat in them (not a great option, given how imperfect N64 emulators currently are). Personally I'm waiting, and hoping cheat support does get patched into the Everdrive 64, same as it did with the 64Drive.
I'm guessing the person or persons knew my collection was worth alot, being that it all was in mint condition, from the price I been seeing on ebay I can see why, $700 dollar for 5 mint condition games in mint condition boxs with console. I'm also guessing it was to buy drugs to get high for prices like that.
