I tried a few times to connect 7 controllers with my PS3, but whatever I did, I could not make it happen (try to play Bomberman Ultra with 7 locally). I restarted this and that, reassigned controllers, made sure no bluetooth devices were connected, but the 7th controller will just not connect (up till 6 works fine). Googling doesn't lead me to any info on this, other than a few sources saying that PS3 supports 7 controllers. Has anyone ever accomplished this? And if so, how?
Have you tried a combination of 4 Wireless and 3 Wired? I didn't know you could go past 4 controllers assigned to 1 system (then again it's bomberman, it probably gets the exception for all systems).
Yeah, I already tried with PS2 dual shock controllers via ps2-to-ps3 adapters as well. Didn't work either.
A powered D-Link USB 6 port hub. I use when I'm repairing batches of PS3 pads. Usually 50 pads at a time. So I need to have them fully charged and sync tested before I hand them back. When you go over the 4 wirelessly synced on the rest you add up the pad number to the last so you know what number it is. I thought that was a nice touch! Oh yeah the 7th one goes in the second port on the PS3. I use a PS3 Super Slim BTW.
Interesting enough, 8 player games are available on the PSN. PS2 classic Fire Pro Wrestling Returns. I don't know if that's been attempted though.
I'm not sure if I follow this. I can sync 6 controllers without a problem, so what exactly are you saying when you want to use more than 4? No special procedure is needed for that, in my experience. And the 7th in the second port? You mean connecting a wireless controller to the second USB port? Or a wired controller via a ps2-to-ps3 adapter? I can't imagine there being any difference between the first and second USB port ?_?
If you have a PS3 remote controll, I believe that automatically occupies the 7th port each time the system turns on whether or not you press any buttons on it. You can deactivate it by holding down the playstation button on it and selecting the correct option.
I don't have the remote control, so that shouldn't be the issue. Have you ever succeeded in syncing 7 dual shock 3 controllers?
Can you substitute Rock Band instruments with dual shock 3 controllers?? I think it's guitar, bass, drums, keys and 3 mics which can't use the ds3 in all-instrument mode.
I read something on Neogaf: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=138073 I assume now 1 bluetooth channel is just reserved for the bluetooth remote, whether you have one or not. Too bad! So 6 players max it is. I could try some PS1 8 player games with ps2-to-ps3 adapters and see if that works Btw, I also have X-Men the arcade game, which has 6 players co-op. Fun game. Never tried FIFA/PES with 4+ though... EDIT: Just checked the box of PES and FIFA, it mentions 7 players... Now I'm still confused! >_< I never tried with seven Dual Shock 3's though, I think. Only in combination with some Dual Shock 2's with ps2-to-ps3 adapter. Maybe something I can try (but then I need some friends to come over for another 3 controllers XD ).
I think a remote will automatically connect if you have one synced up to the system, but I doubt the 7th controller thing is used when one isn't activated. I remember using all the instruments in rockband 3. All 3 mics. You just can't use a controller to pic songs for the mic. You have to deactivate the remote if you use all the ports I think I remember. You do that the same way you would a controller. Just hold down the PS button and disconnect it.
Rock Band 3 is off-topic in this case. You 'only' connect 4 bluetooth devices max. Mics are wired via USB. And as I said, I tried everything within my power, disconnecting everything and what all not, I just can't sync a 7th controller. But like I said, trying 7 Dual Shock 3 controllers isn't something I tried yet. Though I wouldn't know why that would not work with a PS2 controller with ps2-to-ps3 adapter (they can be controller 1 through 6). Curious to your results Domspun! ;D
Me too! I started to round them up, they are all over the house! I think I may be able to have them all sync up to my PS3 by tomorrow.
