Actually getting an Xbox..any recomm.?

Well, I'm finally gonna get an Xbox. Its the one current gen system I just never got around to buying, but now my g/f is gonna get it for me for christmas (she knows I'm a collector so thus why shes getting it for me). Now, the only games I plan on buying for it are Jet Set Radio Future, KOTOR, and Outrun 2. Am I missing any other "must have" titles? Mind you, I don't care at all for online play or FPS. Any opinions? Thanks!

Yeah, JSR Future is quality. As for other recommendations, I'd say Xbox Media Centre and a 250GB HDD.

There really aren't more than a handful of decent Xbox only exclusive titles (and if you don't like FPS, that's the Halos out of the question), and a standard retail box is no use. Get rid of that nasty M$ Bios, and have fun...

Forget outrun 2, its shite, if you want to pay £40 to play time trials, get an XBOX demo disk, it will have a demo of some driving game and usually have only time trials as the playable option. Give the shopkeep £40 for the mag, and save yourself the humiliation!

 

IMHO, Outrun 2 is NOT a must have game. I much prefer Burnout 3. The only problem with Burnout though is that it may get a little repetetive, but at least it'll have you hooked for many hours... and I'm just talking about the missions. Pretty good multiplayer :smt023

Um, Leisure Suit Larry? I wouldn't say a must have, but it looks like a bit of fun to me ;-) The originals were good!

If you have friends round, I found Fusion Frenzy a good laugh, although I know it got slated in mags. No point without 4 people though.

Don't forget there are some great second hand / budget bargains out there!

Outrun 2 is a fantastic game.............on the Arcade! Don't get me wrong the conversion to the XBOX is 100% perfect (or there abouts) but it just doesn't have the long term playability of a proper console game, my advise is to rent it from Blockbuster for the weekend and just cain it!! You'll soon get board :smt045 Save yourself £40 :smt023

 

BurnOut 3 Takedown is even better than 2, got hooked large on that game for awhile.

 

Burnout 3 is a waste of time. Not worth $50, but if you can get if for say $20, I'd spring for it. Fun in small doses, but comes away kind of vapid and empty in the end.

My two cents:

Halo 2, Dynasty Warriors 4, Fable, and PSI Ops (if you can pick it up for 10 or less dollars--gets really annoying).

 

Fable is okay, but I recommend you borrow it from someone.

You will probably beat Panzer Dragoon Orta in three hours (my first run was 2:30, but that was on easy), but it is a great buy, and I don't regret getting my copy.

If you don't plan on getting Xbox Live, I recommend you softmod it :smt023 .

 

I really really really recommend Steel Batallion. It's just awesome. And the learning curve isn't even as bad as you would think.

 

The new FIFA game kicks ass.

 

PGR, PGR2, Metal Slug 3, Knights of the old Repbulic, Arx Fatalis, Armed and Dangerous, Breakdown, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Capcom Fighting Jam, Capcom vs. SNK 2: EO, Colin McRae Rally 05, Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, Guilty Gear X #Reload, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Mech Assault, Ninja Gaiden, Shenmue II, and that is all I can think of right now.

 

My recommandations:

Metal slug 3 , MGS:2 Substance , Shenmue II, Capcom Vs SNK 2: EO, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Burnout 3, Fable, Dynasty Warriors

if you are getting Otoji trying to source Asian release LE. It comes with both Otoji 1 and 2 and bonus OST CD and cost less than JPN Otoji 2 standard release... :-D

OT: Saw GuiltyGear XX OST released in Korea the other day... not sure whether I should pick it up... :-(
