Well, it has been said that flinging a cat at someone's face can be very effective... as they get their nails out to grab onto the first thing they hit.
That actually happened to a friend of mine; Someone threw a cat at him (playfully) and it latched onto his face and scratched him up. He had some gnarly scars for a while.
When I was younger a cat attacked me and scratched all behind my ears/the back of my ears. There was loads of blood and it was really sore >_<
