Hi. I have started to add RGB to my old CRT TV.

At the moment, I am doing what 133MHz has done, as seen in this link
    http://133fsb.wordpress.com/2010/05/22/adding-an-rgb-input-to-a-cheap-generic-ntsc-tv/#more-123
    (Internet Archives: http://web.archive.org/web/20100530...ding-an-rgb-input-to-a-cheap-generic-ntsc-tv/)

I do not understand why TV's outside of Europe did not have SCART. It is really unfair, because I used to play though UHF and then Composite. When Component hit me on my LCD TV, I was amazed because I had never seen such a clear image before! A little ironic, because SCART was invented by the French in the 70's IIRC. Same story 133 describes too.

I will use the TV for my Megadrive, and my Amiga once RGB works ^_^

I will post some images tomorrow and information on the IC's inside of my TV I found. I am just busy doing all the soldering on it.

I am quite confident it will work

    *EDIT*
    All working perfectly fine :)

XBOX that was sold in Australia came with a SCART adapter.. So I'm guessing a few TVs had the option over here.

    Anyway, good luck.

Just showed this tutorial to a friend here in Brazil that has ultimate knowledge in eletronics.

I would pay for this kind of service, since this is a million miles away from what I can do.

Well I have been working on it more tonight. 2 AM at the moment...

I am just tapping into the 'Jungle IC' on the board to black out the on screen display (OSD).

I will post pictures and proof when I have all the high voltage wires out of the way :S

... and I start uni this week. Huge slow down because I sleep at 6 AM and get up at 4 PM

Well, I got RGB working. Except, it is not in colour. I will troubleshoot tomorrow...

    Ha!

Exactly right though. All of my project will stop, except for PSIO.

    Hmm... yours is interesting.

I will do some more work today on it and see if I can figure out the problem.

    Argh, I give up.

It is so frustrating and I cant understand his schematics and understand exactly what he did. I tried emailing him, and he wont reply. So dead end.

Who the f**k only adds RGB to European TV's anyway!

Looks like I wont be using my Amiga until I get a RGB monitor...

Are you saying "he won't reply" after just a day (perhaps even less)? That is rather impatient. People do have lives to attend to.

I dunno. I will wait of course, but at the moment I am not in the mood.

    SO, VERY.
    FRUSTRATED.

Yet, you are working on PSIO but cant understand a pretty simple hack?

There is barely ANYTHING to understand. The schematics are of the original circuit so you can see where to patch RGB into it.

Well HV and digital logic are quite different. I have 240 VAC at 2 Amps floating around me while im working on this thing. One false move, and im toast. Not a measly 3.3 - 5 volts at a few milliamperes.

Please understand that I was just really frustrated. I will work more later once I think it through and cool down.

    240v is no big deal.

But you have far more than that inside a crt tv

Isn't it 1000 volts on the electron gun?
    Or was it 10,000 volts??
