So I have a few junk A01 and E01 ps3s. I have a mint B01 ps3 but the negative is no wifi. I just tried dropping in a A01 wifi/bluetooth card into the B01. I really thought this was going to work but doesn't work. I even tried updating firmware in hopes that the console would search for the new hardware. The bluetooth hardware works so its partially working. Is there something physically on the motherboard like resistors that need to be added to the B01? I haven't pulled the boards out and compared but I will. Does the firmware detect that is a b01 and force the wired connection? I know I can add an ethernet to wifi adapter, but I'm trying to go this route first. Any help would be much appreciated
If it's CFW-enabled then perhaps it is possible to do some tweaks such as spoof it as another model to enable it. I would imagine it would need some sort of firmware tweaking.
Its currently on OFW but I could put CFW on it. I'm trying to be somewhat cautious, I'm not trying to brick this machine.
It's not going to work,I have the same PS3 and looked into it On a CECHB01 it's missing components on the motherboard. You could find a old broken 60gb ps3 and remove the components and install them on the CECHB01 but a ethernet wifi adapter would be the easiest route.
