While looking in obscure clothes shops in Korea I stumbled on an unlicensed Megadrive game I never heard about before. It is called Adventurous Boy, I think comes from china. It looks like a side scrolling shooter with pretty decent graphics. Haven't tried it yet. I will post pictures later. Anybody heard of this thing before? I would trade it for Sega 8-bit related things.
ooH, NICE FIND! I'm looking forward to seeing this. Without any shots I can't say that I've seen it before mind you. The name sure doesn't ring a bell. Yakumo
I have this. Quite an htf pirate. Ok game, not really tested it out much. There's a Russian site with a lot of info on this though. (I'll try and dig out the link later) I can't for the life of me recall if it's a hack or original pirate though. Does yours have box, or insert? (Or even a manual?) Mine's cart only sadly. Edit.. Can't find the link. Just had a quick bash. A Fantasy Zone clone of sorts. Seems to be original, not a hack. Not great either, very poor animation, ok graphical style.
It's still not too well known I think. Anyone who sees it can guess it's trying to rip-off Space Fantasy Zone. There's a whole playthrough up on youtube for anyone interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e79vr65q7qc
Mine is boxed with proper inlay. Very exciting that it is a Fantasy Zone clone, I love this serie. Not getting rid of it anymore
... Developed in Taiwan by Gamtec, Adventurous Boy is a very poor quality shooter. Interesting perhaps only because its nonsensical story is written in English, which may mean the game was intended for export rather than for strict sale in Taiwan. ^^ - Little did anyone know that the "great misery" mentioned comes from actually playing the game. ^^ - One of the bosses leaves a load in his diaper.
It's a shame that it moves so badly because it does look quite nice. The same problem with magic Girl / Witch also by the same comapny. Looks nice during the introduction but the actual game moves like crap.
