    Hi Gang,

    Picked up a PS2 and a Component cable. hooked it all up and the console only displays an image when actually running a game?????

    to be clear..

    PS2 -> AV Receiver -> TV

    Boot PS2/Boot with no Disk - no signal

    Boot PS2/PS1 game.. Signal???? wtf...

    Composite cable displays the menu etc but I dont understand why I cant access the system menu with the component cables yet games work fine?????

    Help?

    Is the cable 3rd party plus use your a/v cable in the menu will have systems settings select ypcbr and swap the cable onece selected and will be fine.

    Cable sure is 3rd party.

    Used original composite cable before and settings are already ycpbpr. Same results

    Maybe it's just a crappy cable? I have a 3rd party composite cable that works on a fat ps2 but not the slim. No idea why.

    Maybe the menu is in 480p whereas game isn't. So when the game starts it's in 480i hence you can see the image.
    Can the display support 480p on that YUV input?

    Is it a region modded PAL PS2? If you only own NTSC games and NTSC TV, games should display yet not the PAL menu.

    Does your component cable have a switch on it for SDTV and HDTV? I am fairly certain I had the same issue a couple years ago.

    What happens when you try a movie?

    What happens when you use the cable to hook directly to the TV instead of using the AV receiver?
    I have had a case when extreme white screens using a sony component cable with AV switch caused the TV to loose the signal.

    I have a similar problem, component switch box that doesn't like extreme white Sega Genesis screens. Rather than PS2.
