I had a disc in the player I went to remove it. Door would not open, motor would spin, Wouldn't play either.

SO I took it apart, didn't see any reason why. Decided it was time to retire it. The Kicker is my LG Blu Ray Player from 2011 has also started to not read things so well. For Blu Rays anyway I have my PS3 but playing DVDs in my PS3 makes a very loud grinding noise until disc is read.

So Low priority but I'm looking for another region free DVD Player OR a decently priced Region Free Blu Ray player. Any suggestions?

Whatever you do, DON'T BUY A DREAMCAST! I hear the PS2 is coming out soon and it's going to have DVD functionality, better to save your money for that.

Is yours a DV-980H ? I have one of those I got in a bunch of scrap electronics, and when it reads a disc (1:3 times) it is an amazing player with nice upscale. Wish I had suggestions as a replacement, but I have not resorted to that yet. With mine I usually just smack the top until it reads the disc LOL!

When I think shit you watch Anime on I think Pioneer.

I'm looking at a few Pioneer players but don't know if they're us models or not.

Whatever man, I'll keep watching Morpheus-downloaded episodes of Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist from the comfort of my own couch. Everyone else is free to spend as much money as they want on early 2000s-era DVD players.

So I assume the answer is "We don't know" to my question then

I know DVD players are yesterday but as long as my PS3 is making loud grinding nosies when reading DVDs, It's best to have a separate player.

The DVD player built into macOS is pretty good, and it can also play DVD rips from an HDD.

Personally, if I were you, I’d just get another Blu-ray player. The 360 is also an option, though they can be pretty loud. A slim would probably be fine.

btw, the Mac DVD player and the 360’s DVD playback aren’t region free.
