Ah that Yellowed PC Engine Look

Have managed to scored a few PC-Engines, Core Grafx and Core Grafx II systems, the white PC-Engines were very yellowed so i used some 35% strength hydroperoxide mixed with water in a washing up bowl to bring back the white goodness!!.....

Thats quiet a transfomation!!

Now the thing was the last few days there hasnt been a massive amount of direct sunshine, and its been very overcast, so it would appear that this method doesnt really need to have the sun to work just basic daylight UV!

While this method works excellent with white coloured systems, what would it do to the grey shell of the Core Grafx based systems??, as some of them appeared to be stained slightly. Would putting these grey shells in to the hydroperoxide mix de-colour the grey shell, as with the white shells not only did it bring the white back but it also removed stains on the shell as well??

 

Wow, that IS quite a transformation. Did the solution destroy the serial # sticker or did you remove that yourself?

 

Hot hydrogen peroxide bath can dissolve paper and glue, yeah. But if OP wants to put the sticker back for some reason it's really easy because it's just a glued piece of paper with serial number printed using common font. All you need is laser printer.

 

Yeah the label partially came off, so i just removed it.

An ideas on what Hydoperoxide would do to the grey shell of a core grafx?, it didnt seem to effect the red PC-Engine logo at all

 

how much? because I have the same problem with my SNES

 

I added about 7 litres of water and 1.5-2 litres of HP

 

I don't think it affect the grey, they way you're doing it. Is not HP direct to the shell.

 

It might make the core grafix go washed out grey colour .

 

i've used this on mist grey saturns and it didn't affect it at all, came out original grey like brand new. snes is a decent shade of grey that works too.

 

True ill give it a go on one of the pads and see what happens

You can see how yellow they were by the sticker on ther lower PC-Engine, guess ill have to peel that off

I managed to get the marks of the case with those Erase-All Magic Foam Sponges....

 

How much time did you leave them out to whiten them that much? How often did you change the solution during the process?

Haha that's what I use too! Those magic clean eraser are the best! I want to do this to my famicom thing looks like butter lol the pc engine I did have cleaned up nice with just the eraser
