Aladdin xt plus 2 modchip problems.

I received my aladdin modchip in the mail and I went to install it in my 1.6 xbox , everything went swimmingly and the soldering was easy( only took me 1 minute no complications). I then load up my xbox and run xbpartitioner and it tells me that I don't have lba48 enabled bios. (current bios are Evox m8+ 16 )
How would I go about upgrading the bios with an lba48 variation?

 

Use EvolutionX dashboard to flash modchip. I think it's the only way to update the bios via the Xbox itself.

You need to have a "evox.ini" config file for Evox that contains the deviceID of the flashchip (49LF020C) and the correct path to the 256KB bios file you wish to flash. I think HeXen's disc contains and "evox.ini" file that has almost any known flashchips used in Xbox modchips. You could also find an example of "evox.ini" file on the net. Just search.

EDIT: I find it odd that M8+ is already flashed and it still isn't patched with LBAv3. When you'll create your own M8+, use evtool to set LBA mode to "F up to 137GB and G takes the rest".

Also, if you want to do a nicer installation on 1.6 Xbox you should cut the LFRAME trace that goes in the Xyclops Chip(small trace next to pin20 of Xyclops chip). Sure you won't be able to boot from the stock bios but why would you want to?

1.6 with modchips all suffer from a flaw that only SmartXX modchips were able to patch. You should see the info on that site:http://xbox.bula.nu/resistor_install_1.6.asp

 

Hexens disc works, I have had other customers confirm they have reflashed using it.

 

Well hopefully theisozone can get its act together so I can download it.

 

Update: I finally was able to download the hexen disc and successfully upgraded my bios to the lba48 v3 evox m8+ 16 bios. Btw use the 256k option with the Aladdin xt mod chip. Thank you for the help.

 

XFLASH can be run from XBMC and you can flash from there. This is all the time to update the Aladdin chips

 

Can you help me out on getting this to work as i am having the same problem on what you where having before. I have downloaded hexen disc from some xbox modding site. But what bios do i need? And how to do i go on using hexen disc to upgrade my Aladdin xt plus 2? If you can help me out that will be great as i'm very confused by it. Thank you

 

so burn the iso of the hexen disc then on boot up go to option 3 and after that choose modchip not winbond as your option. Then after it copies some files over to your hdd, choose the option flash 256k bios 1.0-1.5. DO NOT USE THIS OPTION IF YOUR CONSOLE IT A V1.6 MACHINE. IF THE CONSOLE IS V1.6 USE THE OPTION flash 256k bios 1.6. In either option choose the "evox M8 F and G" option.

Thank's for the reply.. Sadly I was following on what some body put down on some site. Last night it was. Somebody was having problems with his Aladdin xt plus 2 and wont'ed to up great it. So somebody put use the hexen disc and flash iND Bios 256k. He says it works great for him!.. After i did that my xbox turns on saying "Loading ind-bios" Then it will end up going to a black screen.

I'm a little pissed off by it lol.. As after that i seen on some site it was evox M8 bios not iND Bios.. What makes total sense coming to think about it now. Saying that i was so tired last night i was not thinking right and was totally confused. I only seen you're reply and you're right. I think i have gone and killed my Aladdin xt plus 2. As it's not loading any disks. :'-(

Can you still boot the hexen disc? If so just reflash with the m8 plus bios f and g. Indbios aren't as stable in my personal experience as the m8 bios.

 

No it won't boot any disk at all. All i get after loading indbios is a total black screen.
I taken the hard drive out and put the 8 GB hard drive that as been softmodded and then unsolder the BT cable. Made two long cables soldered to the ground solder pad and the BT solder Pad. Tried powering the xbox on so it runs the xbox bios and load the softmodded and then link the two cables together to see it i can get the Modchip bios up working in hexen disc. And then flash it. But it will not work and all i'm getting up is the xbox bios and not the mod chip. So i think it's dead or can't be flash when the xbox bios is running.

Anyway i have gone and got 2 off the mod chips from some US site for $7 what is great over in the UK. What is about £4.45 lol
So i'm very happy about that. If i can't get this one running i will put the new one in.
