Hey all, so if you saw my thread a few weeks ago, I picked up a cheap Saturn and yesterday got it modded with 60Hz and able to play backups. One of the first I tried was Albert Odyssey, the US version. I tried it in Yabause first and while it's slow (my compy is a three-year-old laptop), it worked fine and got past the cutscenes to you being able to play. However loading it in the Saturn has been a pain. Sometimes the disc isn't detected, but when it is, the first time it loaded it couldn't boot the start screen. After a few resets it did, and the introductory cutscene with speech starts. All good so far. But at the fade-to-black before you take control, the voices simply start again, and the next level never loads. Just the voices from the opening cutscene looping again, and again, and again. I've tried three different dumps now, and I have been using IMGBurner and Taiyo CDs. The dumps seem fine to Yabause, and they do play after a fashion, but that's it. So I moved on to burning other games, ranging from Tomb Raider, Mega Man, Magic Knight Rayearth and Legend of Oasis - all loading absolutely fine, no problems at all. The Saturn is near-pristine and the guy at the shop I went to for the mod commented on how good condition the internal workings were. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it some kind of copy protection, or just a buggy game? Thankyou chaps
64 pin Saturns are very temperamental with the current batch of modchips. You should wait until the scene releases a new one I guess. Regarding Albert Odyssey, I hope you downloaded the 1.01 version, since the previous version is quite buggy. Some voiceovers are missing.
Hi, Thanks. Found a different version online, which seems to have worked no problems so far. It was a few weeks ago though so I can't remember where I found it!
