THIS... is very tempting There are Licensed games and there are LICENSED GAMES. Some franchises have never had a good game while others seem to get some pretty damned good ones and it appears Alien has quite few Alien VS Predator (Arcade version and the Jaguar FPS) The Konami Alien arcade game SNES Alien 3 Alien Trilogy Those are just the ones I've played whatelse? Since I watched the first 2 movies this week I'm hungry for more Xenomorph busting action.
The original Alien vs. Predator on PC is a classic. The new one is half-decent too, at least the human campaign: the Alien controls are weird and the Predator campaign sucks for many reasons. Then again, I only paid 4 euros for it on Steam.
I'll have to check that one out. I was really quite surprised at how Decent the SNES Alien 3 was. the 16 bit game...better than the movie...what wacky alternate universe is this?
the Alien vs Predator game on xbox 360 or Ps3 ? Alien resurrection Ps1 and all these >> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Alien_and_Predator_games
I have both the original and the sequel of the the PC version of AvP (which I should probably reinstall). They are extremely well done, although the original aged better, somehow. The Xbox 360 version, made by the same company, is at least... passable. Worth a few dollars or Euros and an afternoon, but not much else. I remember reading about Colonial Marines while it was first in development, and it looks good. It's coming out later this year, if I am not mistaken.
It's coming out in February I am very tempted to preorder Game looks all kinds of awesome. Now for the important question Do any of the Alien games have THIS as it's Game over Screen?
It would be a cool collectors edition, if they hadn't locked out in game content exclusively for it. The figure, dossier, and case, those are collectors items. In game content is not ffended:
Alien 3: The Gun was pretty good though, I think it was by Sega. Not sure how popular the cabinet was, but I did manage to see the real thing back in the day.
There is a newer Alien Light gun game I've seen in indoor mini Golf Corses and Dave and Busters. It's pretty fun.
Alien Trilogy for the PS is a blast. I'm rebuying the long box version right now, it's just... awesome
They used to have this in my local Showcase Cinema years ago. From what I remember I thought it was pretty good, having two 'Pulse Rifles' on the cabinet made it even better. What I can't understand is the lack of a re-release of the CPS2 game on PSN/XBLA. If Capcom and Marvel were able to open dialogue and eventually sort out whatever copyright issues surrounded MvC2, what's to prevent doing this with the current Aliens IP owners? I mean, it's not like anyone would loose out, all parties involved would make a shit ton of money from an 18 year old game.
Capcom and Sega would have to work something out for AVP. Which isn't too far fetched considering that 3ds cross over. The Capcom Arcade game was my first encounter with the franchise and I only saw the Alien movies for the first time THIS WEEK.
Which was your favorite? I'm in a minority in that Alien 3 is my favorite, or the extended edition anyway, the theatricals a bit of a mess.
I refuse to watch 3 and Resurrection. 3 just takes Aliens pulls it's pants down and shits all over the ending. OH those characters you were emotionally invested in? Yeah we're killing them right about......... NOW That said I can't say which I liked more Alien or Aliens. The Marines in Aliens seemed a bit cliched but this is a 26 year old movie so in 1986 they probably weren't so cliched. That said after reading all the possible plots for Alien 3 I liked the Wooden Planet and William Gibson's version the best. There is definatly more to be explored in the franchise even if we disreguard Alien 3 or assume Alien 3 and Resurrection as Dreams Ripley had in status (Or Alien 3 as Ripley's Dream and Resurrection as Newt's Dream) I'll Watch Alien VS Predator and Alien VS Predator Requiem before I watch Alien 3 and Resurrection.
How can you know if you never watched them? Resurrection, yeah it kinda crosses a line, but 3's alright.
It could happened, but I doubt it since the arcade game is so obscure, and the same thing could be said for Konami's Aliens game. To be honest, I don't like that game anyway since it has so little to do with the movie (Rainbow aliens? Zombies? Seriously?) and gets really cheap and repetitive pretty fast. My favorite Alien games are the ones that manage to preserve some of the movies' intense and desperate atmosphere instead of just becoming a xenomorph slaughterfest, and the Jaguar and PC AvP games are IMO the most successful at that. They aren't cliched at all if you take them as a subversion of the 80s action movie heroes who solve problems with big guns, since all their firepower is in the end practically useless.
If 3 is on Cinemax any time soon I'll watch it. But I agree with everyone that killing off the Survivors from Aliens is a real dick move.
I'm actually planning on getting this collector's edition as well. But since the dollar - real currency went a bit high lately, i'll have to wait. It actually made me wait to get Under Defeat HD as well. Anyway, Alien Vs. Predator (Arcade) is amazing. I also liked Alien Trilogy (PS1) back in the day, but it hasn't aged very well. The films, i only like Alien and Aliens. Alien3 is a mess and Ressurection is a joke. I saw it on a theather and regret it to this day. I use to play Doom / Doom 2 with a wad file that has voices from Aliens. Very funny hearing "Game over man", "Not bad for a... human" and so on.
