Hello Billden here. I went to the flea market yesterday and I got a SNES. Now I got all 6 of Nintendo's consoles. That is huge to me because I only started getting consoles at the beginning of this year. That was one of the goals that I set myself. I got all of them this year except the Wii, I had that for awhile. I'm only 17 and managed to get all the consoles somehow. Looking forward to more collecting stuff.
I do not think there is a point for collecting consoles without nostalgic attachment to them or their era. When it grows dramatically you'll likely get to the point where you do not care about a lot of things in your collection. In the end I sold stuff which I do not touch anymore.
Which would they be? Of course, that image doesn't account for the Famicom, Famicom AV, Famicom Disk System, NES-101, Super Famicom, SNS-101, 64DD, 3DS XL or any PAL consoles. That's your opinion. Many would disagree. How many people collect things like Victorian pottery, US civil war memorabilia, old coins etc? Were they alive back then? Usually, no! Likewise, how many people are interested in historical events, people etc? Sometimes fanatically so! If you have an interest in something that was made before you were born, that's great! The rest of us should encourage that.
A lot of satisfaction from this comes from restoration. And restoration and modding of old consoles still brings me satisfaction even if I do not collect them.
Don't forget nintendos tv racing games from years before the nes.. but but I think OP is talking about modern nintendo stuff, nes snes n64 GC Wii and Wiiu. I find it funny when a hipster says the n64 is retro haha.
Well I set a goal for myself collecting the 6 Nintendo consoles. No handhelds or other consoles from a different country.
I collect because all of them are really cool and I want to collect. It's better then sitting on my ass and using my phone all day. It's my hobby and I have something to do. I have reasons to be alive instead of doing nothing when I am a teenager.
I know, I had mine on day one when it came to the U.S. Still, it doesn't feel that long ago. I guess time feels faster than it once did.
