Today my Saturn modchips arrived (thanks to Tachikoma), so I took out the soldering iron and went to mod my precious white Saturn. After some soldering & twisting cables (followed this guide: http://www.robwebb.clara.co.uk/shop/saturn/saturnchipguide2.htm ) I turned on the Saturn, but the CD drive didnt spin nor did the laser light up. So I took the chip out, and the Saturn acted as normal. So, I put the modchip in again, this time twisting the CD cable around the other way. But when I turned it on, I noticed the power light gave an odd flickering and smoke started to pour out from under the mainboard! Also, I heard a crackling sound :smt103 :smt104 :smt119 Panicking, I turned the Saturn off again. I thought I had demolised my precious white Saturn that had been in the mail for 4 months! :Hangman: I decided to remove the chip and try again just to check.... and it works like nothing happened. Phew. Right now its blasting my fav Strapping Young Lad album thru the TV again like nothing happened :smt023
wow that was an close call! .... dunno how much more of those modchips you have... but maybe you can also suply my saturn (eur/model1) with a chip ? (like to play yakumo's beta of that enix game, without the stupid swapdisc method)
