Hello. I've got at home a Debug xbox including Flat out in beta version (anyway was it released yet?). I were able to extract it and all, no problem. So I think my knowledge of the process is good. Yesterday a friend came with a debug xbox. It's a NTSC model, so he brought it because I have a Stepdown converter - he doesn't, for the moment. I know there is some beta game on it, or more probably alpha. Today i tried ripping it. The game name is ... project 512. Codename? I don't know anyway. There is a bunch of file inside, but none indicates what game it could be. Thing is, we're able to use the program on that xbox. There is a "loading" screen... then the game crashes. On another xbox -including my debug- it's impossible to load it. Can anyone help me? I don't know what it is, it could be a piece of crap, but i think that it could be something good, so i think it's worth the try. Anyway, for those who may ask, I prefered posting on 0th bit because I have no idea whose society it could be, but if one of them recognise the codename or anything, it may cause us a lot of trouble. And there 've been more activity the last months, so we must be really careful. So let's get to know what we're dealing with first. Did anyone see such a think before? or were able to fix it? Thanks for your help.
Try getting a readout though the Network neighbourhood on the PC using the xdk, may give you more ideas as to what it may be, look for any log or ini files as they may indicate at the very least what developer it was done by, and build dates etc. As for flatout being released, was that the one that came from me? if so i shall probably get round to releasing it at some point DD
yep that's this one. anyway i'll try to use the XDK. Maybe i'll be able to get some info. Still, the game is about 2 gb, so it's kinda strange that the games crashes on boot. It is definitely not a pre-alpha, so...
Try switching the region from pal to ntsc and vice versa, and mess with the video modes etc, if you need any more help drop me a pm or look me up on MSN
okay i'll try this as soon as i can. Anyway i found a log file. It seems that i've got an activision game here. Anyway, nothing working with video output. A corrupted file perhaps?
Could be a variety of things, if i recall some debug / beta games required the use of a memory unit before the game would load, unsure if Activision ever used this method however As you mentioned finding a log file for it, is it throwing up any error reports in the lig file itself? as that may indicate if there is a problem such as a missing file, memory overflow etc.
did not have time this week... anyway i found another log file. Not much is said inside exept.... Error: could not find file 1020.11 Error: could not find file 9120.24 Error: could not find file 1820.25 Error: could not find file 4028.27 there are other lines like this. this is the 4 first lines. Strange, the filename are only numbers. I think that we're not able to load the game because those files are missing. But the names are pretty strange...
