I feel like I am. mostly I prefer Pump becuase it doesn't make me cramp up and the music is less gay.
What the hell is Pump? The only DDR copy I know is the crap by Jelaco that was released in the late 90's. As for the music being gay, well it's not aimed at the US player to be honest. You probably have the European ones which again are different than the ones used in Japan. Personally I prefear the ones used here (Japan) than the Euro ones. Some how dancing on a machine to crap like Britny Spears doesn't excite me. (yeah, I know her name is spelt wrong but who cares :lol Yakumo
Are dancing games still around? shit... I bet 50 bottlecaps activision will launch a DDR clone with disco music, and call it Dance Hero
Bust A Move! I have a few friends who blast the fucking DDR music a lot. Annoying when your not playing the game.
I enjoy both DDR and Pump it Up, as well as In the Groove. For DDR though, I prefer the pre-5th mix style, and so my favorite is 4th mix (on the PS it has as many features as the MAX series for the PS2). Between PIU and 5th mix on style DDR, I prefer PIU.
I never had the skills to play those "dance" games. Other arcade music games were coll, like DrumMania and Beatmania. Funnily enough, Konami released Guitar Freaks on arcade on 1998, with the last revision being released on 2001. It wasn't a failure, but never was a big hit. In 2005, Guitar Hero came out...
DDR Max has Raining men......that's pretty gay... I do however LOVE Beatmania with Happy Sky being my favorite I have DJ Max as well........HARD VERY VERY HARD But yeah back to Pump it up. There's just something very......qwirky about it it's asian but it's not Japanese and the Korean music in it stomps a mudhole in the ass of about 90% of all Jpop Speaking of Jpop Motherfuckin Ouendan!
Pump it up arcades are shit they take forever to load a song, can't say i like the music selection either. The only thing it has going for it is the button layout as it makes for better dancing due to the middle button but thats its only redeeming feature. Give me eurobeat / j-pop over naff korean pop. If your worried how you look when you play in public you should never play any music game, luckily im manly enough to feel at home playing anything including para para paradise which i played in london in front of a huge crowd & they were amazed at my para skills. One day i will find a working samba arcade & live out my dream. Oh & one last thing, err yeah pump it up is crap LOL
I quite liked DDR and played it alot at my friends who had it but never played it in arcades or anything although i did play Singstar at some really small e3 type games event and was not too bad at it although i don't think i can sing.
I don't know Pump it up (what a name) but I always liked DDR. The European songs weren't sooo bad, but the Japanese ones featured on later versions were brilliant in parts. Remixes of awesome Konami sounds, classic symphonies, rock songs ect., all in the typical JPN techno style. I love it. Still there are releases that aren't really necessary, like DDR Club Version for Dreamcast.
Memories of DDR: sitting in the "quieter" section of the student's union and enduring Steps' "Cotteneye Joe" over and over and OVER. Quite why that particular song was so popular is beyond me. It was easily the most irritating song on the playlist. Kind of soured me to the whole DDR thing.
That wasn't ddr that was the horrible bastardized uk dancing stage version where anything remotely cool was ripped out & replaced with the worst music ever. Hehe relive those memories LOL
I liked DDR, pump is ok. In the Groove tries too hard to be like "WOW LOOK AT THESE INSANE STEP PATTERNS" i've loved music games forever. I gave graciano1337 my arcade DDR Pad with railing in exchange for driving me a stateover and picking up a neo geo arcade cabinet.
They released a new Guitarfreaks and Drummania this year and it's pretty popular in Japan up to this day? Don't really get what you're talking about to be honest.
he's saying the Konami games came out years ago. long before guitar hero. but they're not nearly as popular as guitar hero.
Yeah but remember this. If it wasn't for Konami it's unlikely any of the other copies would exist. Yakumo
