So long story short, I bought an LE DVD box set from Amazon. Last time I ordered a box set it came with crushed corners because Amazon just shove the item in the corner of the box and use paper to fill the empty space. I emailed them about it and told them to pack it carefully so it didn't arrive damaged. Two day later I get the item and it's not only crushed in three places but the item it's self inside is also damaged. I emailed them, told them about it and they arranged a replacement, so I told them again how to pack the replacement so it didn't get damaged and they promised me their Fullfilment Team would handle it and that it would arrive in perfect condition. Couple of day later I get the replacement and guess what? Yes, they packed it in the corner of the box and used paper to fill the extra space, subsequently the replacement got bashed and not only was the replacements box crushed but the item inside was also damaged.

In the end I had a lengthy phone call with Amazon discussing their packaging methods, they told me that their methods had been proven over time to protect the item. I told them it didn't, by now on three separate occasions, and on none of those occasions did they actually listen to what I said. I eventually kept one of the items and got a 15% discount because I honestly could not be bothered to mess around anymore. By now all I wanted was to watch the DVDs and I wanted to save them from destroying even more of their products. They now have an opened DVD box set which is severely dented which they either have to take the loss on or sell to some other poor chap. Why they didn't just listen is beyond me, it would have saved me the time and effort, it would have saved the products and it would have saved them from making not only a loss on one of the items I kept but also on another item they now have to resell as second hand.

This is all a familiar story I'm sure. I honestly don't get some companies.

I buy from Amazon a lot. I will say that Amazon Japan does have better packing however I've never had anything arrive from Amazon US in poor condition. To me Amazon are a wonderful company. I guess you've just been very unlucky.

This was Amazon UK. Their prices are great but their packaging is lacking at the minute, this has been their method for a while now on large items. Hopefully they'll sort it out. The fact they've now reduced the box set 40% doesn't make me feel any better, they're probably all bashed to bits by now with the way they've been packing them.

Must be just an Amazon UK thing. I wish every company could be like Amazon. Never any damage and the one time they screwed up (They missed a same day game release by a day) they gave me $5.00 credit. I didn't even realize it was a same day release until I got the email apologizing. Somehow I don't see Gamestop doing that.

I ordered from Amazon US, and the BR Movie was put in a cardboard pouch. For some reason the invoice was water damaged and the box was a bit damaged too from the water. Other than that the movie arrived alright.

Seems to be a UK thing then.

Its all a money saving issue (by cutting down on packaging) and hitting targets. Staff don't have time to package everything with care, as the high workrate targets means they don't have time to. Anyone taking time to package stuff carefully will get in trouble for doing so. As long as its only a small percentage of customers who properly complain, they don't change anything.
