I have two units in, and of course no cards for them.

I'm not getting and video out on the video port, the digital I didn't try
    as I don't have a cable.

What's the trick to getting some kind of display? Does it 100% require pc host
    link to get video?

Looks like I need an orca card.. Anyone selling?

Is it not a Marlin card for the DDH?

I need a Marlin myself, so ASSEMbler if you you happen to come across anyone selling more than one, please let me know!

Because I also lack a Marlin I have been unable to test my DDH, sure looks pretty though. But I have a question for you. Are the boards inside the DDHs all final-spec D5 boards or are they older versions? I am particularly interested in information about older ORCA mainboards :)

U don't need a P.C connection to throw up a video display, it will work 'as-is', trouble is without a P.C connection you don't actually get a display, if that makes sense!

    It does, 100%.

That's exactly what I am getting.

I have two units, a real old one, and one sent to nintendo for repair pretty
late in the AMC lifespan, it has repair / upgrade stickers.

I'll take snaps of the boards. I was wondering what use the internal
PCI slots are for, as well as the ram / edge connector thingy.

I'm currently imaging the hard drives just in case.

Literally for P.C'ish compliance/testing/expansion etc. (Much like many other Dev Kits)

The mobo even has a JTAG!

...If you imagine the ORCA is basically a daughterboard rather than the motherboard.

As I haven't used the DDH in a while I must have taken out the card as I can't find it xD
I've searched 3 boxes trying to find it but it was in none of them, I'm pretty sure were it is now after searching those boxes. But it's a real pain to dig though the place were it is.. so it will have to wait until tomorrow.

IIRC, the Orca alone does have JTAG as well. I don't have my GDEV here, but I *think* there was an undocumented riscwatch-compatible header on it.

Other than that, I would be also very interested in details about pre-production boards (i.e. HW1 and that slow/broken memory and all that stuff).

Wasn't pre-production actually faster than retail? The original spec got diluted a bit from what I remember, it was twice as fast as the MIPS in there..

Some models vary in speeds, though retail was the fastest. However, Some early units were clocked at 400mhz, subsiquent revisions dropped the clock speed down below that, and the final few revisions were at 486mhz. Of course, the RAM speeds vary through all this as well. I think all D3 revision units and earlier didn't have standard controller ports (it had RJ ports similar to phone or ethernet jacks). I'm not sure exactly what revision these were replaced, and if you ever get it running I'd love if you could run the GC Service Disc on it for some CPU/GPU info read-outs (I can help you with this if you want to)

I am trying to compile a neat little history of the GC development hardware article just for the AG forums... some really nifty things I've come across but I need more info before I can compile it all together :)
