Does anyone know what happened to American McGee's Oz. I heard it was cancelled. Did any code ever exist for this game? Alice was great, I would have liked to see another twisted game world.

Yes, it was cancelled. Yes, code existed (Their is a sole screen out their of it using the quake III engine). And from what I recall the reason it was canned was because of lack of funding. American McGee is still trying to get the idea turned into a movie (along with one based on the Alice game), but im not sure if he's made any progress on that front.

    Edit: That screen I mentioned:

It was quite playable, i'm not sure how finished it was, they even made a bunch of the figures... I didn't realize it was canceled. I'll have to dig through my crap someday and see if i have anything from it.

In definate backburning usually results in cancelation or renewal on a newer engine. This version would be dead I'd assume. Hope you find something cool Ace.

Now that the Quake 3 engine is terribly outdated it probably is cancalled. I have hopes of it being transfered to a newer engine, and a newer platform, though I hope they keep the original story and chracters and so forth. A question; was a build ever given out to anyone? Im just wondering if it is even possible to get a beta or something. Thanks for the pics Fabrizo.

Damn, It would have been nice if an alpha or beta build surfaced. I loved alice. I'm very tempted to figure out what modifications they made to the map format (it was not a straight up q3 format).

It looks like Q3 just running on the highest settings.

    Could you post it somewhere?

Well it was using the quake 3 engine, and more then likly they would show it off when set at its maximum settings.

Under the circumstances, no... I really don't have an internet connection at home these days...

All you really get to see is a fly by of a few of the characters and a few seconds of the logo posted above. I think it was ment as a marketing thing to sell the game to publishers.

    update

Well if you check McGee's blog filming for Alice could start this summer (& I've heard Sarah Michelle Gellar for Alice). He's also finished the script for Oz so fingers crossed they'll be able to raise the budget for the game after that :icon_bigg. The weblog is also quite an amusing read!

Interesting. I hope the movie wont get ruined.... hope Silent Hill wont either. But yeah, they need another company picking up the Oz project, I think it would be fantastic.

I was looking forward to it, if the move bring enough revenue to get the game developed and published I am all for it .
