I'm helping a friend choose some parts to upgrade their computer. They are based in the US. I wanted to look around for a good deal online for them. Can anyone recommend any online PC component sellers in the US?
Hehe cool, are they the only company people use over there, then? Sounds good! Thanks! Hmm, nice rebate on RAM - save $30!
How many Tiger Directs are set up in the US? I know there's one in Raleigh. I almost pissed my pants first time I walked in there... ("You can actually buy computer parts in stores, now?")
I didn't know they even had store fronts but I bought from them in 1999 and taking into account the RAM shortage, their prices were pretty reasonable, but now they're clearly on drugs! Afterall, they generally only carry the cheapest Chinese off-brand parts (often even OEM...) for maximum profit. I suggest buying from Newegg(.com) or eBay if you're confident. If your friend is looking to buy from a store front, probably the best chain in the country is Fry's Electronics for discount parts if you're flexible about the make/model and can wait for rebates.
CompUSA is about 10 times worse than Tiger. In 2001/2 I was forced to buy a $250 60gb hard drive from CompUSA when I was in a bind.
tiger direct and comp usa rape you in the ass everytime you buy from them, newegg , and wasnt tiger direct selling your info? i am 100% sure i saw that and it was true...
Tiger Direct sells your personal information btw. I'd go with Newegg or Monarch Computers.com or ZipZoomFly.
To agree with madhatter256, I mainly frequent Zipzoomfly, onarchcomputer and Newegg now. I have dealt with all 3 and they are great. My only issue is Newegg charges sales tax for my state now, so they aren't always the cheapest. I would go with Zipzoomfly. All my orders where processed very quickly and they offer free 2-day shipping on almost all there products. Btw, that sucks about Tigerdirect. They are a decent e-tailer, but hearing that they sell personal info, I will stay far away from them. ^_^_^
