I still have yet to download everything recommended in the ZX Spectrum thread but I figured I'd start opening up the field to Amiga and C64 as well. Same as with the Speccy preference is leaning towards games that took advantage of the sound chips. Also all genres are welcome, But racing games for both are probably what I'll be playing the most of. But Platformers and wacky undefineable games are wanted as well.
Amiga: North and south Ugh! Cannon fodder Lemmings C64: Creatures Sensitive Few off the top of my head without much thought required.
a racing game I enjoyed a lot back in the days on c64 was power drift. really good conversion for being on the c64. I higly recommend metal warrior 1-4 and hessian, "new" c64 games made by cadaver from 2000 till this year. they're amazing for plot, gameplay, etc.
Only "racing" game I liked back then was Hotwheels. You could custom paint your vehicle and drive it on the highway. I can't recall what else you could do. One of my favorite games on the C64 was Ghostbusters ("hahahahahahaha"). It has a driving element to it, too.
Apidya and X-Out were fun shmups, played a lot of Xenon II for the sound track too. Turrican 1&2 were awesome. Team 17 games were pretty astounding. Check out 'It Came from the Desert'. I loved that game so much! All Amiga as I went from Speccy to Atari ST to Amiga, skipped the C64 lol
GOH: If you are into roleplaying games, that are not JRPGs. then there are the SSI roleplaying games. Pool of Radiance Curse of the Azure Bonds Champions of Krynn Secret of the Silverblades Death Knights of Krynn Gateway to the Savage Frontier And quite a few of them are also on the Amiga. So have fun.
Amiga: Benefactor Stormlord Arcade Pool One Step Beyond Bubba 'n' Stix Manic Miner Cannon Fodder Myth Monkey Island Rainbow Islands Parasol Stars
Apidya Agony Project X Heimdall I & II It Came From The Desert Liberation (best with the CD32 version) Hunter Lotus I, II & III Jaguar XJ220 Universe (loved the Bladerunner-esque sountrack on this) Gods Syndicate Walker SWIV Stunt Car Racer Blood Money Pinball Dreams & Fantasies
Hmm suddenly I thought about The Bards Tale trilogy/series, and Dragon Wars. Where you can/could import your Bards Tale characters into the game. And also , the games I mentioned are both on the C64 and the Amiga
I'm starting to think maybe I should gather up all the Amiga games again. For the time being I'm concentrating on the C64 and Speccy I'll book mark this thread for when I get Amiga going on the Pi3.
