i have read a few places about the gamepad killing it but i think the overall hardware / games killed it as it never really had many great games

does anyone know any info on a "Cubo CD32" it is a cd32 arcade machine i think it was made by an italian company which i don't know their name?? it used some sort of card to allow it to be used as an arcade machine.

The company was CD Express, more information here. http://ninjaw.ifrance.com/cd32/cubo/

Attaching a CD32 to an arcade cabinet isn't that difficult, most cabs of that era used NTSC compatible monitors & the inputs are comparible to the way that joysticks worked back then.

You could probably knock something up similar and run the games on a standard CD32.

The CD's claim that the games will only work on a cubo cd32, so there might be an internal modification or it might just have a way of detecting that their card is plugged in. Probably nothing difficult to work round though.

When it's emulated by MAME then more info will be available.

I'm pretty sure it runs under WinUAE.
