Yeah amiga they are still very popular amongs developpers.... a few months ago some dudes who are programming an gba engine stopped by at my work... and the were also working on a amiga :smt033
Wait. WTF??? They run LIGHTWAVE on these machines??? I've worked on version 8 of that software and it's hell to use it with anything less than 3 years old. I had to work with a 850 mhz, 128MB Ram machine, and it took like 3 days to render 20 seconds of very simple primitive cel-shading. But 3D rendering on an Amiga...? I know it's probably an older version of lightwave but still... THAT is positively impressive. I hope I get to see that in action.
Amiga A1 is using mac parts and can use mac OS X and 9 plus Amiga Os 4 plus debian linux and red hat for power pc´s
Well, that's a bit more powerful than my older machine... ;-) But still a rather impressive instance of hardware and software!
AmigaOne has been released for like 2 years. I personally don't like it since the AmigaOne doesn't have support for legacy apps (and neither does OS4) which is the only reason IMO why Amiga is cool. AmigaONE < A1200. Without old cracktros, why would you want to use an Amiga? It's like using a theoretical BeOS computer (WHY?!?!?)
Way too much money. Just port the amiga os to x86 or something, or make a version that runs on the imac mini. Thgat's PPC based
Thats pointless, who'd want to use AmigaOS when they have MacOS (POS) haha Both AmigaOS and MacOS should be ported to x86, x86 is RISC (emulating CISC) now... It's IBM/Motorola's fault for bribing them! (at least with Apple) Amiga lost it's soul in 1997 or whenever the company was whored out and deficated upon.
Man, makes me want to go out and buy one, dig up a genlock and some anime and start subtilting. I had an Amiga 1200 back in the day. Got a lot of wear on that one.
Yeah, but they're not as much fun! I'd love to get one of those kick-ass Sony MSXs with all the video mixing/titling junk. They look so cool!
The current ones are a bit more modern, more buttons and most likely with Katakana signs next to the standard Hiragana alphabet.
