Damnit, *Amstrad I couldn't find anywhere else to put this but do move it if I've gone wrong So, i bought a cheapo non-working amstrad cpc 464 yesterday for a fiver, turned out all that needed fixing was the power socket which needed re-soldering back onto the board. After making an RGB cable for it I realised that I have a grand total of zero games or programs of any description. I was wondering if anybody knew of any worthwhile ones? (I don't have a floppy drive for it so only games available on tape please)
i had one of these years ago pretty some pretty decent games on it too, Renegade is one i'd recommend, its a beat em up similar to streets or rage or double dragon, Xenon was good too, also had a game called "The Eagles Nest" WWII top down shooter. thats all i can remember sadly the amstrad i had died a slow painful death and is long long gone shame i had loads of cassettes and the monitor for it too. i did see someone giving one away on a freecycle group im gonna take a look and see if its still there
I'd like to add to the list Turbo Esprit. In fact, all the Durell games for the CPC were pretty awesome out of the experience I had playing with my friend's CPC back in the early 90s.
one from the freecycle page is gone now, came with a case of 50 games to so would have been handy for this thread, anyway another one i remember is "oh mummy" very simple but fun, try looking on youtube theres probably an "A-Z" of amstrad cpc games and some reviews / gamplay video? i havnt looked but there is for most other systems
The CPC464 my old friend...... Hi to all CPC fans Try Head over heels, Antiriad, Stormlord, Stormlord II, Get Dexter, Rick Dangerous I & II, Turrican, Heartland, Cauldron series, Gryzor (Contra), list goes on...... Well these are what I recommend. Depends on the games you like. Check out http://cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Top_games Enjoy the Arnold.
Awesome thanks, you woulda thought I might have stumbled across that page while i was browsing the cpc wiki lol Never mind, giving me plenty of games to look into!
oh last one just popped into my head i loved playing was called "Harrier Attack" frustratingly hard but quality game
Where do I possibly begin? Here's a list of my old CPC 464 favourites - and all of these were definitely on cassettes since I never had a floppy drive, either: 10th Frame Aftermath Arkanoid II: The Revenge Of Doh Army Moves Barbarian Basket Master Batty Bubble Bobble City Slicker Classic Axiens Classic Invaders Classic Muncher Combat School Crazy Cars Crazy ErBert Crystal Castles Dizzy Dizzy Dice Elevator Action Everyone's A Wally: Meet The Gang Exploding Wall Fighter Pilot Flying Shark Freddy Hardest Froggy Fruit Machine Simulator Game Over Ghostbusters Green Beret Gryzor (AKA Contra) High Steel Impossaball Joe Blade Karnov Kentucky Racing Leaderboard Madballs Mag Max NEIL Android Paperboy Phantom Club Ranarama Rastan Saga Rik The Roadie Slap Fight (AKA Alcon) Slug Splat! Strike Force Cobra Superman: The Man Of Steel Super Robin Hood Super Stunt Man Sword Slayer Tai-Pan Tank Target; Renegade Tarzan Terminator 2 The Legend Of Kage The Rocky Horror Show The Simpsons: Bart VS The Space Mutants Wacky Darts Wizball Yie Ar Kung Fu Now that's food for thought and one heck of a shopping list! If only I could find even a fraction of them to enjoy all over again (and NOT via emulation)...
This was the first games console/computer I ever owned, it had the "green screen" monitor. When I was a kid it got taken to my grandparents' house, I didn't wanna send it there, but was kinda pushed (was told I had no room for it etc., but not to worry could still play it there etc.). Anyway over the years my cousins damaged it so it was pretty much unusable, and some of the tapes were even unravelled and stuff. A load of games were still ok. A couple of years back I asked about it, decided to see if I could have it back with the games, to see what I could salvage. I was told she no longer had it, either binned it or gave it away. Was gutted.
Also my first computer in 1987, what a dream, deffo recommend Oh Mummy, good to see you've ordered that.
The Roland games - Roland on the Ropes etc. Loads of good games that were on Spectrum and Commodore, too - Dizzy games, the Codemasters simulator packs, the isometric Batman game.... all sorts, really! Oh, and Pipe Mania! I might possibly sell some of my Amstrad games soon, by the way!
Frakenstein Jnr Stardust Ruff n' Ready Impossbile Mission Dandy Gauntlet 2 Tie break Supper Off Road Batman Robocop Fruit Machine Simulator 2 Thoes were a few i remember being fun back when i was a kid
