I actually have one of these arriving in a few weeks that I've acquired. It says it originally came with MS DOS 5.0 and Amstrad Desktop Operating System, I've never even heard of or seen Amstrad Desktop? Is that the name of the actual OP on this thing?
Yes you can read the hard drive its nomal ide. I have the dumps of offical ms dos 5.0 amstrad. I will upload them.

Amstrad Desktop (aka CheckPoint) was a pretty basic MS-DOS frontend that really wasn't worth the time. It was essentially a clock, a calendar, some basic word processing software and a file manager (IIRC). The actual OS is MS-DOS (it didn't come with Windows, you had to install that separately). IDE is a way of connecting hard drives in older systems, as opposed to SATA. You often see the drives also marketed as PATA or Parallel ATA.
