Just found one of these. I would like to test it out. Yes it is not a video game, but I'm hoping the smarties here will have some overlap knowledge. Does anyone know about the 9 pin video out on such a unit? I haven't seen it before. Is there a video connector I should be looking for? Suggestions where to find one or another common system that uses one?
Is it a DIN connector? You could look to the Megadrive/Genesis I/II AV cable which are 8 and 9 pin DIN connectors respectively, it's around the same era, they might work.
The PC-20 was, to all intents and purposes, a Sinclair PC-200 IIRC. It was CGA (9-pin DIN). It is a standard CGA port. You need a CGA monitor. http://www.old-computers.com/museum/photos/Sinclair_PC200_Rear_s1.jpg http://www.gamesx.com/hwb/co_CGA.html Correct, though - this is a PC, not a rare video game. There's a section for PCs ;-) EDIT: I guess you're in Europe as you have one of these. You could use this: http://electroschematics.com/377/cga-scart-adapter/
CGA? Yow, a guy has to have his limits. I would probably pick up a connector for future reference, if there is one commercially available. Even CGA to VGA would work. But I am in the US. I found it at a thrift for $8. I'll probably flip it. I don't care if I make much on the thing. I was just thrilled to find any old computer at thrift- I think they must toss them for the most part. I never see Commodore or vintage Apple at thrifts anymore. Anyway, where is said PC related forum? I looked, but I couldn't find anything that was better to post this. Thanks for your help on all fronts.
Right at the bottom - Computer support forum. There ya go, it isn't even limited to PC ;-) hehe. You're welcome. I didn't realize Amstrad sold computers in the US - sounds like that's where you are! Interesting. You could get CGA to VGA but that involves upscaling from 15kHz to 31kHz so it won't be cheap. The better bet, as I mentioned before, would be using an RGB TV (e.g. SCART). I guess as you're in the US you might be outta luck there. Get an old Amiga monitor or a Sony broadcast monitor.
