An Interesting Editorial Cartoon

I often read a lot of editorial cartoonists, and while I do agree with the consensus that the vast majority are hacks, there are some I do like. One of these folks is Clay Bennett, the editorial cartoonist for The Christian Science Monitor. Unlike many editorial cartoonists, he does his work in full, well-nuanced color, and avoids the hokey and easy gags (usually).

But what I found most interesting of his was this cartoon:

First off, it's nice that he doesn't just jump on the "let's blame video games" bandwagon...but do look at what he uses as the picture for video games.

I suspect that Mr. Bennett may be a gamer, and this is a way for him to show that...just makes him even better than the majority of editorial cartoonists to me, at least.

I'm just wondering what you folks think.

    Yay! A 64DD cart!
Just had a flick through his cartoons, and from an artistic POV they are very good. Can't say i agree with them all, but they are very good.

  3. He's gotta be some sort of gamer, using a 64DD cart. :-D

Although I must say, he's a little backwards in terms of accessability on those items... sure, a kid could easily get their hands on any one of them if their parents were to leave them lying around the house (for example) but anyone with any experience knows it's a good deal harder to get one's hands on weapons than it is for R-rated movies.

I guess I'm not entirely sure what he's aiming for here (no pun intended)... :\

I'd be easier for me to get a gun than it would to get a 64DD system or cart for that matter.

Which makes him biased towards his editorial, which is the whole purpose of one, its just an editor's opinion. Anyway, I understand where he's coming from with this cartoon, or at least I think I do.
