http://www.the-magicbox.com/0604/game060418b.shtml No, please! DIE!!!!! DIE!!!!! BURN IN HELL!! :crying::crying::crying:
Yup, I was shocked to see new screens of it as well. Shite is a word that springs to mind. What is going on in the third screen, looks like he is hovering above the ground! Why is the text jammed in on black backgrounds (looking pretty bad again)? How bad does the red thing look in the first shot? Indubitably one of the worst looking games I have seen in a while. First gen PS2 or even later Psone games in a somehwhat higher resolution. And the final kick in the groin is that this is meant to be a present to the fans to celebrate the anniversary! Well it could play amazingly well, though I somehow doubt it. Either that or they sell it for 2000 yen.
How could you possibly hate on a new metal slug coming out ?? I must be the only one looking foward to this release .
It should have stayed dead. This thing looks horrible, like some kind of first-gen Dreamcast title. Metal Slug 6 > Metal Slug 3D
Yeh, it looks like an N64 game. I just hope that since this is 3D, I'm sure SCEA won't be an ass and decide to let them publish the game here in the states because they wouldn't allow them to publish Metal Slug unless it was a pack-in because it was 2D.
Oh God no. Why? Damn it seriously! Im not buying it, dont know about anyone else but Im not buying it, Ill keep on playing the old Neo Geo titles but not this, this game just CANNOT BE 3D!!! Just like Casltevania cant be 3D either..... sigh, this sucks.
Actually, I wasn't sure what it was at first. I thought it was another crappy first-person shooter. Things that should remain 2D: Any fighting game that started 2D, Metal Slug, Sonic, Bomberman, and IMO, turn-based RPGs. :110:
Indeed. Those KOF Maniax games come to mind in particular....god the first one was just awful, yet there's a sequel in the works.
Good lord yes that KOF Maniax was rubbish. I have mentally removed it from the KOF series. It does not belong there. It does surprise me when people say they like it. People go on about it making "the transition" from 2d to 3d, well yeah, it is playable but not a shadow of any of the 2d games. I would rather play the Neogeo pocket version than bother with the Maniax. Still it did sell kinda poorly, so I have no idea why there is a sequel in the works, must be a bit of a same engine rehash for a quich cash in. Stick it on the psp for another quick buck, etc. As for this new improved metal slug, I can only assume that it is too far in development to cancel. Anyone looking at those screens realizes it looks awful, everyone on the project must know it looks poor, it has to be cleaned up before release. I do think that games can make a safe transition to 3D, modern shooters often combine the ease of 3d with 2d gameplay. I would be happier with a metal slug using polygons with 2d gameplay rather than the above effort.
Well, let me be the first to be a little more positive towards this release. Yes, it looks very poor for a current gen game, but if done right (big if, but still) it could actually be a fun little game in its own right. And this comes from a Metal Slug fan..
Actually, these screens look better than the first ones that came out, IMO. Even though it made a transition from 2d to 3d, Im going to give it a shot. I thought the project was discontinued as well, but they are really pushing for a release, I guess.
All the real fans disowned the series when MS4 came about I don't know why there are ANY expectations after that.
