Friday got my copy of intial d 1st stage asian dvd. All i can say is im now hooked on the show. Got the asian version as the american version is horribly butchered(i.e. names are americanized,horrible music, and Takumi a................pizza driver?And other misc changes). I was wondering if anyone else on the board is a fan of the anime?
When it comes to anime, NEVER and I mean NEVER buy the American versions. They are almost always cut and ALWAYS have awful voices and changed music. I used to watch Initial D (Kashira Moji D translates as The first letter is D :smt043 ) on TV a few year back. NEver really got into it though until the Sega Arcade game came out. I'm hooked on that. Play it every Monday without fail :smt023 Now I'm getting in to the anime on DVD. Yakumo
I agree with Yakumo. I have seen some DivX episodes of Initial D, plus Battle Stage, all in japanese with subtitles in english. A friend of mine got a Initial D DVD from US, and the music is terrible. It simply does not fit.
The funny thing is, Initial D is just about the only thing in 10 years (besides kid's TV stuff like Pokemon or Yu-gi-oh or some shit) that was severely cut and edited for a home video only release here. And even that has the original subtitled version on it.
initial d american dvds aer dual.... original japanese music and crappy american dub.... all american dubs suck... all american dvds are dual uncut... execept the 2 first sailor moon sagas, but they where rereleased on uncut.
Right. That dub is probably the most horrid dub ever made though. Ultra corny jokes, every car was changed from having the real exhaust note to a generic broken Civic kinda sound, and the soundtrack is, uh... buttrap? Nothing else recently made even comes close to its badness.
I love Initial D.... comic, anime and games. I imported from Japan the PS2 version of the game and despite it is not comparable to Gran Turismo (it was not the point anyway) I think it captures very well the spirit of the anime. Jollyroger
Initial D is pretty cool. I have a Japanese DVD Rip on my PC, well I used to before I had to reformat my system. Anyway, there is a PC version of the Sega Arcade Initial D racing game. It's $20 at my local walmart.
Except it's not a PC version of the arcade game. It's crap, even by budget-priced crap standards. The Shockwave version is better!
Ive never seen the show, i'd really like to being a big fan of the Sega Rosso game. I could do with modding my PS2 to get the Jap version, shame it was never western ported. How are the older saturn && PSX Initial D games?
The Saturn version is pretty crap. I ended up changing the awful usic for the usic featured in the Arcade gae but even that couldn't save it. The controlls are far to dodgy to ake it worth while. King The Spirit 2 is sort of Like the Saturn Initial D apart from being a illion ties better. Yakumo
Cool i've had my eye on King the Spirit 2 for a while, and that Atlus racer i forget, Drivers Peak or something. Btw, time to get a new "M" button
All i know about Initial D is the soundtrack, and that is pretty good Too bad i could not check anything else yet, there seem to be many fans of it around!
