Boy, this has to be very unhealthy for your ears and stuff. And you'll probably lose some audition or equilibrium and be very dizzy as a side effect. I still want to try it once.
I heard about this. Is this for real? Oh man, the ways this could be abused.... so horribly wrong. What possible positive benefit could this have for the human race? You know usually I make fun of people who fear science, but sometimes it's true that science just goes too far. Shouldn't these people be trying to cure cancer or something? Shouldn't they be out there trying to make people live longer and build faster computers or make warp drive or something? But instead they're busy making implants that'll turn us into human wind up toys? Maybe I'm not supposed to understand.
But from my experience, if the currents persist, you'd probably be persuaded to follow their orders. And I didn't like that sensation. At all. So it's a form of electro shock therapy. All it does is stimulate the blood in your ears that keeps your balance. After prolong shock of this you succumb to it and "do what it wants you to do" persey. All it does really is make you dizzy and people can resist that tendency if they are strong enough. I understand why the guy suggested Apple should offer it in the iPod, because then the listener doesn't have to take ecstacy to feel all woosy and "relaxed" when listening to his favorite tunes. This runs along the lines of another device that uses sound waves to make a person feel nauseous and "give up". I can see this being used as a form of riot control, but not like George Orwell's 1984 novel.
If they can figure out how to send the right impulses directly to the nervous system (brain stem or spinal column), then they should be able to partially rehabilitate quadra/paraplegics. Combine that with one of those brainwave reading devices that others have been working on and you could completely rehabilitate them. Or use them on prison inmates for our own amusement...
If a death occurs with this thing... can you say without any doubts that it's a murder, or a suicide?
Well if the electrodes are still attached to the head and the controller is nowhere to be found then most likely a murder.
yeah, but that doesn't mean it's the guy behind the controller that made the move. You can control yourself with this thing on you, as long as someone doesn't push a button. Right?
Quadropalegics, ok, that's a good use. But prision inmates? What about the good ol' fashioned method of clubbing the bastard in the head? I don't know. Before you know it they'll be forcibly implanting this shit into babies.
