Lol, you've been out of the country too long.

Dixons stores became Currys.digital in 2006 - the name continued as an online-only shop and for a while at least as tax-free shops at airports etc.
Currys.digital closed nearly half their stores in 2008.
Dixons merged with Carphone Warehouse last month to make Dixons Carphone - a really shit name.

Currys chose not to renew the lease on their stores (excluding Currys.digital) in 2007.
A lot of Currys stores now are Currys/PC World.

    Comet closed in 2012.

Short answer - Currys IS basically PC World.

You might still go to Currys for laptops etc. but John Lewis is probably better for that sort of thing nowadays. Or supermarkets.

Tesco are crap for laptops, trust me. They have nothing worthwhile in store and have to order stuff in, and their list is terrible. They have NO desktops in store.

Sainsbury's is a supermarket chain that's 145 years old and was the UK's largest supermarket chain from 1922 to 1995. They're only the second largest nowadays because people use Tesco cuz they're cheap. And not very good. Sainsbury's is still one of the best supermarkets in the UK, and one of the oldest.
