His proposal backfired of course when several groups actually did create games based on his descriptions. Then it turned out he was 'only kidding'. The politicians and the media are to blame though for letting this guy repeatedly embarass himself. Nothing like a moral crusade when you need easy votes/a political smokescreen.
Actually, the story was that he would donate $10,000 to a charity of the game makers choice when they made it. Some made it, and then he said that it was "satire", so Good ol' Penny Arcade donated the $10,000 and said "Penny Arcade will because Jack Thompson wont" on the check. Jack starts crying about the whole thing and tries to get the guys at Penny Arcade in trouble. Angry letters and calls ensue, and lo and behold Penny Arcade is still around. He really is an ass.

That was before / during his harrasing several people on the net (Game forum members, Admins, etc.) People have since then started to distance themselves from his "crusade".

So, he's jobless and haunting Gamepolitics like a ghost and still threatening people like he has power? This is a wild Guess, but Thompson may commit suicide within the next 5 years.
