I still think that FF4 was the best FF game made, so I don't know whether to be happy or cry... http://kotaku.com/gaming/cecil-b--deformed/kotaku-magu-final-fantasy-iv-ds-confirmed-259068.php Oh, and if any of you nice Japanese reading members would like to translate any of that page capture...
"Date and price TBA. Developed by the team that did FF3 for the DS as well as the old FFIV team." The rest is just "all new 3D graphics, complete renewal, more exciting, etc". As for me, I kind of don't see the "need" for those 3D remakes. I'd rather play the original. Does the game improve in any way if they change it's look?
No it doesn't but they can sell more copies to the idiots who like 3D more that 2D because the game is "Better" that way to those people. yakumo
hmmm the only two cool 3d remakes I have seen was the two sease and disease(d) versions of Chrono Trigger, and I think they would have been awesome remakes. But the whole remake stuff(in 3d or not), begins to annoy me alot.
The fact that Square is so profitable kind of underscores the shitty state of the gaming world today. How many versions of the same game do we need? At least do what Nintendo & Capcom do and change a few things along w/ the title.
i'd like a 3d remake of FFVI on a powerhorse like ps3 or 360... i've always wondered how they could render the final fight with kefka!
Newsflash: Square isn't what it once was... I don't know how you can look at them today and not expect them to remake. With that said I'd prefer any new game, even a remake, to nothing at all since you always have the choice of popping in the old FFIV. This like every other one of their recent games, it won't be mindblowing but you're still guaranteed an above average game which I think should be welcomed for a console where shit outweighs average 10:1.
Graphics matter, no matter who you are. Some people just rate graphics higher than others. Personally, if they can do a job like they did with FF3 on the DS and keep the gameplay relatively identical while raising the bar on the visuals, I'm all for it. As a collector, I own the game twice already (PS1, GBA), and I'll probably buy it on the DS (and maybe actually finish it this time). The reason why it is probably coming to the DS is because they'll most likely be reusing a lot of the code from FF3, which had been in development since before the launch of the DS.
Bah, this is what, the 5th port/remake of this game? (counts) 1. Original JP "hard type" 2. US Port with difficulty removed 3. JP release of US port - "easy type" 4. PS1 slow version 5. WonderSwan Color port 6. GBA buggy-as-hell port of WonderSwan port 7. Port to FFIII engine on DS No, I guess that makes it 6 "ports" or conversions. I'm tired of these endless re-releases; time to get off the train. I'll stick with sprite work, thanks.
I don't mind (I wish they would remake Final Fantasy VI ^_^). Maybe new gamers would be more likely to play this one instead of the older version and ports? If yes, then I think it's a good thing. Not everybody was around to play them originaly so might not have played it. If a remake brings them that chance whever in 2D or 3D then that's ok for me.
I'm the first to admit that I can get by bad graphics... I have a hard time getting by it when it's a 3D game on an a 3D-underpowered stystem. There's only a handful of 3D Saturn games I can stomach for this matter. They should leave the fuck alone. But, I don't really buy any of their games so I guess I'm not one to bitch.
Hey, at least it isn't a remake of a remake! They pretty much redid all the graphics in the PSP Final Fantasy I and II ports to a higher resolution version then using pixels. That, in my opinion, is overkill. Still, couldn't they at least make a remake of a game that needs a remake? Chrono Trigger only has the SNES version and a shitty Playstation version: Why not remake that?
Because Square has been in a downward spiral for many years now and realize that they would just screw it up? On a side note, Square is also remaking Star Ocean 1 & 2 for the PSP: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6170405.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=newstop&tag=newstop;title;6
