My dad was fortunate enough to see him in New York a couple years ago ago at the Iridium. He was a genius. RIP.

RIP Les Paul - a true legend passes

I know that people have complained from time to time that virtually unknown minor celebrities or obscure people from the dim and distant past have ended up with an RIP posting on here, but for once there is a legendary figure who's mere existence must have touched the vast majority of people on this planet in an incredibly positive way.

Les Paul, guitar player and designer has sadly died aged 94 years of age. I had no idea he had invented multi-track recording! What a guy!

Love, respect and sincere thanks for your gift!

Merged Parris topic to the existing one.

Anyway, it's really sad to see these great people go. RIP.

Shit, he was 94. I hope I live that long. I take it this is no big surprise to anyone.

Why did I immediately think of Douglas Adam's character 'Dirk Gently' when I read your post?

"The only person surprised by his death.... was him!" :crying:

I am really hoping that the guitar community holds a star studded tribute concert.

Mr. Jackson got a concert / funeral.

I think Les Paul deserves a World Tour (except it would be best if they didn't take him with them!)

Agreed. All great guitarrists should pay tribute to him.
