Mmmmm..... i wonder if i can get a buy 2 get one free deal...

Oh, and that's a freaky ass xbox. I've never seen a DVT-2 in an xbox shell. DVT-2 are supposed to be alpha towers. No screen shots leads me to believe that it doesn't boot, some idiot probably threw the wrong refresh disc in there and f*cked it all up...

I'm just curious what kind of executible it runs... DVT-2's should only run .xe files...

Yeah, it would have originally run .xe files and startup with the scrolling firework logo animation. Its the QT retail prototyle. Some people think the Alpha2 is infact DVT2 but its not the case, the DVT2 I have only ever seen in retail prototypes.

Its quite a rare bit of kit, but dont expect to do anything useful with it, and these kits dont downgrade either, so its not a good idea to put the july / august kernel on it.

Thanks for clearing that up,but I know you said it wont downgrade but can the xdk dash be upgraded. Can you use the recovery disc on it.

  7. It's not a .xe DVT2 console, its a QT DVT2 console which is a totally different piece of kit, it was made AFTER the Xbox was released during 2002.

...If you look at the piccies you will see that it's an April'02 machine.

...It's basically a 'standard' QT Xbox

    What's a "QT Xbox"?

Oh, duh... i somehow read that as april '01.... which really confused the crap out of me...

Whoever picks this up, be careful moving it around too much. There's an odd bit of circuit bashing up by the tsop. The solder work looks rather shoddy with what looks to be cold solder joints.

Update from the seller, the highest bid so far is $215 plus shipping. Still pretty cheap IMHO.

stupid me, i saw that and i clocked it as 2001 also. thought it was the uber rare dvt2 retail prototype... but its most likely a unit used for controller and other peripheral testing.

Last i heard from the guy, it seems that i had the high bid...

I really want to tear into a couple of the apps on the drive. Considering the date of the machine, the apps that he has running and the fact it's a QT xbox, i'd really like to get my hands on one of those things.

As for what it is, the QT stands for Quality Testing (i believe, correct me if i'm wrong). These units were given to the component manufacturers for them to test their components when the xbox was redesigned. This one looks as if it were given to micron when the xbox switched from 1.0 to 1.1.

I've been trying to help the owner not screw up this box, the guy asked me if it would be possible to get mame to run on the thing! At that point, i reached through the internet and bitch slapped him. There'll be no mame on a QT xbox... Seems i scared the crap out of him, but i was worried that he would start running some of those compatibility tests... last thing he needs to do is wipe the hard drive...
