it's not that i don't like shooters, but i would love to see something else than this type of game being released on the legendary Dreamcast... don't think it will ever hapen though.
Because of the situation of the DC we can expect only Dreamcast versions of Naomi GD-ROM games like Trizeal or the previous titles (Chaos Field, Border Down etc) or ports of renai / adventure games like Baldr Force EXE and others. This is not bad at all, if we think that a lot of people said that Ikaruga would be the last game for the system. DC is inmortal :-D A new DC game, awesome. I hope Senko no Ronde or other games like Ring Age will follow.
I will buy it, but be warned -- Trizeal is mediocre at best. Very lack-luster graphics, and relatively moderate gameplay. I (and many others) posted opinions on it over at Shmups (which is down at the moment). Don't be expecting another Ikaruga.
I think it is getting kinda boring, just releasing those shooters on the DC, is has more potentail then that (not saying the shooters look bad) Nevertheless, its still nice to see that there are games coming out for the DC
Senkou no Rondo is a shooter/fighting game, which GRev (Border Down) are developing. It's Naomi, but of course no word on a DC release.
Since its a shump, the story is not a main part of the game which means it will appeal to more gamers ( esp. importer and those that don't understand the language). This can be said true of beat'em ups and simple puzzle games too, but things like platfomers or adventure games not only take longer to make (generally) but they will also have lower sales due to importers not being able to understand the language (if you think about it, about 30% of sales for a "dead system" will be for imports). Anyway as long as the game is good I know I will be buying it
I've been hoping for something with the impact of Ikaruga since, well, IKARUGA, but I've been sadly disappointed. I'd have to say that of the ones I've tried, Border Down seems to be the best one yet - haven't got my hands around Psyvriar 2 or Shikigami No Shirou 2, but Baldr Force and Chaos Field seemed just so-so. Puyo Puyo Fever wasn't too bad, and I'm still trying to get my hands on that Choco Marker... Ikaruga and KOF2k2 might have been the last great Dreamcast games. :smt009 I'm personally hoping that Capcom might grace the system with a port of Red Earth/Warzard - the Dreamcast is more than capable of doing CPS3 games, as proven by the Street Fighter III series, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and one or two others I may have forgotten. However, this is most likely just a wishful pipe dream. :smt009
