I have a Sanyo Try 3DO, until today I've only tried playing Japanese games with it. Today I tried a U/C disc and to my surprise it rejects the CD. Am I crazy or can you confirm that Try's don't boot non-J games? I presume that there is no western world known fix for this either?

Aaah! the Try is only for the most puritan of gamers, it rejects backups too! Remember this you people thinking about getting a Try, so much for the "best" 3DO.

    3DO owners and brains don't mix :p

    Hehe sorry, j/k ;)

Hmm, interesting! Well I've only ever had a Panasonic so I don't know. I'll see if I can glean any info, though.

Hmm, all I could find was this. Not much help, sorry.

I managed to get a US game backup to run ;) It turns out that the system is just EXTREMELY finicky... While many *ehrm* backups available on the internet will work on a FZ-1/10 or Goldstar, they won't on a Try. For some reason however every backup I've made somehow works... I'm still not sure why my original Way of the Warrior doens't work though.

Could well be an optical problem - maybe the laser needs realigning.

Nope, not a laser problem although it could probably be ehanced a bit. I'm not going to screw with it yet though ;) I bought the system brand new and have used it for under 10 hours in all, it seems that people are just incompetent at ripping games. Like I said, every game I personally backup works perfectly but I have yet to find a game by another that works. That makes me angry because I'm dying for some Gex and don't want to rebuild a PSX and burn a copy to play it.

I've had a sanyo TRY 3do for about two years now and I can telll you that its quite picky about which media you use and what speed you burn your games at. At least thats my experience. I burn my 3do games on platinum cd's at 4x and that has never failed to work so far.
