Any chance of an "in game menu" firmware update for the standard Everdrive-MD?

Hey everyone! I just received my Everdrive-MD from Stone Age Gamer earlier this week. So far its been absolutely incredible! What KRIKzz has created with his line of flash carts is completely genius. Stone Age Gamer complimenting the hardware with their carts, cases and stickers is also very professional. I am extemely happy so far!!!11

That said, I do have a question about possible Everdrive-MD firmware upgrades in the future. I noticed the same week I received my Everdrive-MD, another model has gone up for sale on Stone Age Gamer. This of course is the Mega Everdrive-MD. The one feature of the Mega Everdrive-MD that I am envious of is the ability to choose different games from an in game menu without turning off the console. To remedy this with my standard Everdrive-MD, I purchased a 25ft composite cable to keep my Genesis close enough for easy access with shutting down/selecting different roms.

Is there any chance of an "in game menu" firmware update in the future for the standard Everdrive-MD? Would this even be possible or is it something the standard Everdrive-MD hardware could not do? I would love to keep my Genesis in my entertainment center next to my other consoles. Basically the in game menu is something I would absolutely love to have for my newly purchased Everdrive-MD!

original everdrive md will not get this function. last firmware update for edmd was made more than year ago, and i have no plans to make any firm update for edmd. cart hardware already used on 100%

 

I am sad to see that my 6 day old Everdrive-MD is already obsolete, however to hear from the man himself is definitely an honor! KRIKzz you are a BOSS AND A GENIUS!!!!!! I hope you get rich from how smart you are!!!!!!111

p.s. have you seen universal soldier regeneration? i think it was filmed in the ukraine and its one hell of a movie

Well it depends how you look at it. If you bought a Chevy Malibu and then a week later a new Cadillac comes out for way almost twice the cost of your Malibu would you say that your Malibu is now obsolete? The Mega EverDrive (NOT Mega EverDrive-MD, as you called it, I know the names can get confusing) is not a next generation EverDrive-MD. Its a new product. The EverDrive-MD will continue to be made.

The Mega EverDrive has also not been a secret. KRIKzz announced he was working on it like last November or December I beleive.

 

The EverDrive MD is not obsolete at all. It still does what it said it would do. It's still an amazing flash cart and affordable. The Mega EverDrive is a higher end cart which is more expensive but the most expensive parts allow for features not possible on the older cart's hardware. For many people the regular EverDrive MD will be enough. For others they will enjoy the new Mega ED. It is sort of confusing in the names so I can understand that.

 

hey Stone Age! thanks again for selling me my everdrive! ive seen how other retailers package and present the everdrive, none of them even come close to what your doing with these flash carts. absolutely great stuff!

my last post was under the influence of too much beer. My "obsolete" comment was just to be dramatic in my drunk emotional state, so far i am incrediblely happy with my purchase. The everdrive has been one of my best gaming purchases ever. I hadn't heard of the new mega everdrive until a few days ago, I guess I wasn't ahead of the curve with that one, but its alright. I will continue to enjoy my everdrive and maybe in the future I will upgrade to the mega everdrive!!1111

p.s. all that blast processing in the packaging was dangerous, it almost blew my arms off when i opened that box!!1111111

How about scrollable filenames for EDMD like the SED has? That would be the last final update for me...

hey KIRKzz! i keep getting prog error 120 whenever i try to load any 32x games, even the ones you recommend in the text file included with your 32x to bin program. sometimes the 32x roms will stop loading half way, most of the time i get prog error 120. also once the 32x games fail to load, i can no longer load genesis roms after that point through the 32x. ive tried this on my model 1,2, and jvc xeye. my 32x still works with all my regular games. any ideas? thanks!

 

error 120 mean that cart can't read sd. genny3 mode or another sd card is the only way to fix it

 

LOL, I did exact that once here in this forum with a lame SD card and my ED64. Next thing in the morning I was apologizing. Now days I'm one of the fans from Krikzz works, started the old "thank you, thread" to show that.

When you start to know the other devs behind other flash cartridges, take the Atari Jaguar and the Atari Lynx for ex, you'll see how nice is to have Krikzz around for this task.

 

i went out and bought a brand new sd card, formatted it in the everdrive, loaded 32x roms from goodgen, fired up the everdrive with the 32x connected, and unfortunately i am still getting error prog 120 or freezing when the rom loads. every pin connector on my genesis and 32x is perfectly clean, and all 10 of my 32x games work perfectly. when i load any 32x rom it always says the rom type is MD, ive seen everdrive 32x gameplay on youtube and i remember seeing the rom type usually says 32x. the 32x to bin program from krikzz does not work on my computer, even in compatibility mode, but every rom ive tried from any rom set does not work. does anyone have any ideas? thank you

edit- genny3 mode doesnt help either, and once the 32x fails to load its rom i can no longer load genesis roms, as if my 32x is the reason why the everdrive is not working, but my 32x plays all of my games with no problems at all. please help!111

 

you may send cart to me for check, and i will test on my 32x. keep in mind that "play all normal games" means almost nothing in case of everdrive, cuz everdrive is a complex device which uses more power and more signals than normal cart. if cart will not work on my 32x, then i just will send another one to you, but if will work fine, then something wrong with your 32x.

Thank you for your help Stone Age, i will probably take you up on your offer! before i send out my everdrive though, theres one last thing i would like to try if someone could help me. I probably have to speak in code so please decipher, could someone possibly send me a confirmed working smor or group of smor that they have working on their everdrive? i want to make sure its not just stupidity on my end and it turns out that the smor im trying to get working are just faulty or the wrong format. could someone please send me a "mor" or "smor" for me to test with my 32x? possible a privite message and ill give you my email? thank you!
