I've seen many kits around some are black some are white. Is just using elite casing or are they different models? I'm looking to get one and wonder if there are actually difference.. besides the colour ;-)

In general, Devkit is devkit. (unless we are talking about Prototypes or Beta Kits!)

Somebody should do a list of which colurs appear on which MB revisions...
e.g. Xenon Devkits were XDK grey only (I think) and testkits etc. were white
while I couldnt say I've ever seen a grey Zephyr....I could be mistaken though, so you may also ignore that last part :p

In the dev industry, you'd most likely only have the matte black kits with sidecars (Devkits) however MS are doing swaps for the new slim kits nowadays (I still think they look shitty) [IMG]
Around here, the white ones with wires coming out the tops are "Prototypes"
White kits with sidecars where infact testkits.
Then you had the Xeon kits which where infact matte black with grey sidecars.

    And the new options:

:O Thanks DaE exactly the information I was looking for. I exactly want the black Xenon testkit, personally they look the best. Hope one day I can find one :crying:

I'm all so new with kits, so bare with my next question.

When you're talking about "test"kits, are these also known as debug kits? Making sure so when I ask for one the person will know what I'm talking about

Hah, if you want to go into detail on these I'd be happy to hit you up on an IM of any kind.

But yes, an outdated term would be a "debug" kit.

In regards to that, personally if you dont want any problems in future, it'd be best to go with a final revision other than a Xenon, as they are prone to overheating and usually have a lower lifespan. You do however see them selling around here and even Taobao.

I haven't seen many Xenons with stock fans/heatsinks. Main reason I want a Xenon is they're more affordable than the later versions. I've just always wanted a kit of course I'd go for the most affordable ones. (that's from what I've been told).

I believe that's enough information at the moment, just wanted to know the difference between the different cases. I'll go ahead and make a WTB request, hopefully I can get one :(
