    Any games like GAIAPOLIS?

Recently I found this jewel of a game going through mame. So i booted it up with a buddy and tate'd my CRT. Never did i expect me and my friend to have the one of the most incredible 2 player experiences of our lives. As soon as the title animation and music came up my mouth dropped. the cut scenes, to the game play which has a parry technique which is awesome. The leveling, the art, no boss kill bonus(most unfair thing in a multiplayer beat'em up/shooter), the hidden secrets, the very awesome fitting music, and the helpers(lizard with a hammer my favorite). Just everything blew my mind.

So does anyone know of any games like GAIAPOLIS or have information on it since barely any documentation on it is on the net?

ive noticed between Japanese and English versions the Japanese version has 75% more voices and has bit more content.

heres a really bad play through video of the game, the guy missed almost every secret(you can knock holes in walls and walk in doorways) missed paths with upgrades, didnt parry or use the whirlwind technique(done by moving joystick clockwise or counter clockwise), amissed most breakable content, and all around sucks at the game but gets credit for having a full playthrough.

A tate beat em up on this hardware seems like an odd design choice... This was the last game on this arcade hardware from Konami (it's from Konami, so you can assume it's good).

Have you tried the other beat em ups on this hardware: Metamorphic Force, Monster Maulers, Mystic Warriors, Violent Storm? Unique games stick out, so this might be a unique one...

yea i've tried all those, the side scrolling beat'em ups are good, but this over top beat'em up was such a great idea, and the tate i can understand since bosses are so dang tall and huge sometimes. the legend up zelda and new falcom ys games come to mind but missing that arcade feel and 2player action.

Try Dark Seal I-II (aka Gate of Doom and Wizard Fire) and Light Bringer (aka Dungeon Magic)
