I'm not aware of any p2p apps, but IRC is built into most distro's as standard. Read up on how to use it if you aren't conversant (should take 5 minutes as it's basically DOS commands) and you are laughing!

best are irc, emule, bittorrent,dc++ and maybe winmx... dont bother with the other ones. emule is a little hard for the n00bs... but you'll get the hang of it after about a month xD

I'm using Shareaza, and it's great.

    [LINK REMOVED]

EDonkey2000, Gnutella, BitTorrent and Gnutella2 (G2) Networks, great interface, easy to use, and it's free and have no spyware/ads and stuff like that.

I don't know if it has a linux port, but they put the source code avaiable, so it should not be that difficult to port it.

It doesn't matter where the user posts from it matters where the site is hosted. If someone from canads posted the link it wouldn't matter as ithe site is hosted in the U.S. thus subject to U.S. law. On another note P2P in itself isn't illegal it's how it's used ie: illegal downloads of music, movies, software and other generic piracy.Even if such acts were not illegal, the company who hosts the site had a terms of use which had to be agreed upon and violaing the host's rules means we would no longer have a host (as we would have been shut down!).

The programs listed are not illegal, but they are certainly taboo given the context, please confine the info to pms.
