Someone from the SegaXtreme forums was selling one years ago, but I haven't been able to come in contact with the seller. I was wondering if anyone here as ever heard of it or how similar it was to the Sega Saturn Address Checker.
Hi, this is an overview of the Dreamcast Address Checker: "This circuit conducts a simple check for illegal accesses on each Dreamcast bus. If the result of the check is an error, the circuit lights an LED. The circuit can also output an interrupt if an error is generated. This circuit checks for the following: • Accesses to the CS2 and CS6 areas (unused) • Accesses to the GD-ROM reserved area and writes to the boot ROM area • Accesses to the flash image area, accesses to the AICA image area, illegal G2 commands (the entire G2 area) • Accesses to the modem area, accesses to the G2 external area (2MB and 32MB are separate) • Accesses to the texture memory reserved area. A total of 20 errors can be indicated."
Thanks for the info Fatalist! In a way it sounds like the DC Loop Checker's functions. Would you happen to know where I can get pics of this hardware and/or if it was an HKT based unit?
I don't know where to find pics, I've uploaded a doc about the DC Address Checker here: http://rapidshare.de/files/19924702/Address_Checker.doc.html
Im pretty sure theres enn a picture of it posted here before. If im not mistaken there is also a gd-r for it?
Ok, I mean im sure theres been a picture of the address checker posted before and i guess also a loop checker gd-r posted before.
It looks like a stock DC with a PCB sticking out of the expansion port where the modem normally sits - I've almost bought one on a few occasions but I was too late when they were sold cheaply and too poor when they turned up pricey =/ Oh well ...
Hi all I've just purchased the Dreamcast Address Checker I can not find and download the manual can someone help me please? thank you all for the support )
