Hi, Wanted to ask if anyone here comes from the Netherlands? I bought a LED tv and managed to crush the remote. Though the tv is made in China, their service dept.is in Europe being HPC Technology. International Limited - I needed to know before making an expensive call and not speaking Dutch (doesn't help) if they still exist. I can't get the remote from anywhere else as it's unique. HPC Technology International Limited Westersingel 21 3014 GP ROTTERDAM tel. 010-2151617 Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Well it appears they should be there, but cant find any website or google result proofing they are still there... Im Dutch, and live near amsterdam, there are more people here who speak dutch.
hi, thanks for that, i guess i will have to bite the bullet and give him a ring, does it look like an average number not a premium line. not that i have any experience with chat lines :wink-new: and as i said this hong kong special universal remotes are no good, i already went up the route of having a clone remote programmed company in the uk offered to do it but they would have to butcher a chip from the original
What model is the TV? I've hunted down some obscure remotes in the past as I tend to break them regularly somehow.
I am from the Netherlands. The number is a landline and not a toll number, but the company is no longer registered with the chamber of commerce, see https://www.kvk.nl/handelsregister/...r.db.kvk.nl/TST-BIN/FU/TSWS001@?BUTT=24398520 If they are still in business, they may be operating under a different name. Hope this helps.
Most annoying thing about those universal remotes is that they only partially support your tv, my can't get in it's menu anymore... Btw I'm Dutch too.
Your OP didn't mention universal remotes at all. Also if you don't like hong kong specials there are plenty of other kinds available. Or you could just not the the rmeote, get off your ass and use the buttons on the side of the TV? I even use a remote for a completely different manufacturer on my TV because they happen to use the same codes which is more common than you'd think as everything is generic these days.
I love my Logitech Harmony Universal remote, finally one that actually works well and is custom adjustable thru usb. You don't need one of those expensive ones, the Harmony 300 works fine!
Universal remotes do work, but sometimes you have to try a lot of codes as some will give you a partly working remote. A lot of cheap TVs tend to use the same ICs so you may find another remote works fine, I have a lot of Philips TVs which work fine with a Wharfendale remote, which works with a Toshiba remote...
The Harmony series support virtually any device, there is a huge database of supported devices. No need to mess with codes, just connect the remote by usb to a pc and type in your brand+model.
thanks everyone for their comments especially Jeilong & CodeAsm, the model of the tv is an HPC model PD-63SA, i love this tv due to its low resolution making it great for using old consoles with, i have thought of going down the route of a universal remote in some detail even to the point of a company within the uk making a replacement but there are certain features like picture in picture using the dual rgb which would be lost using a cloned remote, to make matters worse the original remote has no codes markings or branding anywhere on it, making searches on ebay near impossible, anyway hopefully i will get a response from the phone numbers if indeed the company still exists, anything you can find segafreak i would appreciate it
Universal remotes most certainly DO work and aren't Chinese. One For All is made by Universal Electronics, a California-based company, as are all JP1 remotes. They are programmed by means of a code, a universal detection method (that will find ALL televisions) or in the case of the JP1, via connection to a PC. As for your remote, THAT is Chinese rubbish that's probably used on a bunch of different televisions!! http://www.oneforall-int.com/ http://www.hifi-remote.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page
Your model seems more obscure than I thought it would be. Found a Dutch review of another HPC model and they claimed it was highly incompatible with Universal Remotes..it doesn't look good I'm afraid
