There is source code, from 2007, but I don't know if it has an early build date.

 

Hello Hiccup! If I recall correctly some build of Source Filmaker has proto Portal assets.

 

The leaked source code from 07 contains the coding for the retail version of Portal from that time. The files were from early 2008 & were part of a licensed package that Valve provided for other developers.

Only "prototype" material I know is unused assets packed in with the retail Portal & Portal 2. Never heard of anything in Source Filmmaker, but it seems plausible.

 

I haven't heard of any early versions of assets in Source Filmmaker. Somebody (forgot who) seemed to think that one of the source code leaks contained a version of Portal (1) with some kind of multiplayer functionality.

Anyway, you could find more unused stuff in the source of the final than in the compiled final build.

I do remember seeing some clips from before it was bought by vavle ( or so i remember) Im going to look and try to find them.

My bad it was Narbacular Drop, valve picked up the devs and hired them to make portal.
