.any tips on the best way to get a Wii for christmas? (we're in Canada)

I Figured this would be a good topic for the 0th bit, as obviously it seems like this information shouldn't be shared with everyone.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions on how to still score a Wii in Canada?

Anyone got any success stories?

 

we have tons here in italy, but i guess it won't help you....

 

your best bet is the real canadian superstore....they usually only get 3 or 4.....but there's almost always no line ups for them....just be sure to get there early when they open


FYI, futureshit, bestbuy and toysrus are maybe the worst places.........walmart has 'em but at random times......

Won't help but here in my town there's plenty of consoles in the stores, so it isn't a problem to get one, at least for now. Nintendo should divert new batches of consoles to places with more demand.

 

I got mine from EB Games during the spring. Parents were walking aroung the mall, found that they had a new shipment in, and bought it right there and then. They come home and everyone craps themselves.

 

Are they NTSC Consoles?

I.e. Compatible with US and Canada software

 

Nah the Euro ones are Pal units.

 

There are loads of available wii here (in France) if you don't mind getting a PAL unit that is.

 

No thanks to Nintendo. Walmart gets them directly from Big N, not with normal freight despite what the moron electronic associate tell you. The supercenter I work at has morons working in electronics during the day saying it'll be in at midnight when in fact FedEx and UPS don't deliver then.

 

I saw an article suggesting that Nintendo is withholding USA units and producing more JAP and EUR units instead because of soemthing to do with too many people buying it and returning it.

In Valencia there're loads of them... But remember, it's a PAL unit with Spanish packaging. :/

Shockingly, many people I know just happened to keep checking on Amazon and were able to find some within a relatively short space of time over the last Christmas period.

Just a heads up; I don't know if they have the Target chain in Canada, but at my store we actually have Wiis in stock, but we don't have any on the shelves and we've been instructed to tell customers we don't have any. We're doing this to keep them for an ad they're going to run soon.

It's possible other stores are doing this as well. I think it's a pretty retarded policy, but you might want to be on the lookout for sales papers in case of stores backstocking for times closer to Christmas.

 

I think Hudson Bay Company (HBC) is somehow connected with Target, as all our Zellers are stocked by myriads of Target trucks......

I have to agree there. The best places to look are grocery stores that will stock them just because they are selling well. Keep an eye out. Walmart isn't bad either. A friend of mine just kept checking early in the morning and eventually lucked out.

Speciality game shops are the worst.
