I have a few Game Cube games in my collection where the label on the discs are peeling. Does anyone know of a way stop and prevent the disc's label from peeling? It seems if the label peels the game still works as the ones that have peeled on me still work and I can still get a perfect rip from them.
I own many GC games and this is the first time I've heard of this problem. I had some discs with crack in the middle. But thinking about it's probable that too much moisture or heat could do something like that.
I posted images online of this years ago. Searching "Gamecube disc peel" on Google will pull up those images. I can find them or make new ones if needed but it does happen. It seems to be with games that use a certain style of label. I can't say for sure but these are the games that I know of that do it: MGS Twin Snakes (I own one that went real bad) Resident Evil 4 (I own one that went real bad) Mega Man X Collection (bubbles are forming) Star Wars Rouge 3 demo disc (Bought it new a few years back and it arrived like this) Sky of Arcadia (don't own this but I have seen images of it going bad) I replaced MGS years ago because I thought this would eventually render the disc useless but it still works. The replacement MGS game hasn't begun to peel at all. It starts as a bubble on the label. When it pops is when it spreads around the disc. Someone recommend lacquer to me but I wasn't sure if it would be safe to use on a disc. I store my game in the cases at room temp year round. I would say ~60F - 80F at most only cause of the hot summers.
