The currently "Best PC game of all time" according to Metacritic. Now with that bait out of the way. Your opinions on this game?
Keeps hearing about it too, but guessing how the game industry is, it's probably some pixel art crap that' I'm quite tired of.
Sadly any indepth talk spoils the game, so reviews of the game will sound like pretentious fluff. The game is best enjoyed blind. The gameplay is pixel RPG with Earthbound visuals, bullet hell style combat and an elaborate spare / negotiate mechanic similar to Shin Megami Tensei. A tagline for the game says "No one has to die." The characters in the game are quite indepth enough to remind me of Visual Novels. They react to your every action in the game. Including someone trying to kill them all. One even knows when you start a new game or load a save file, and has an ingame explanation to it as well. You will get called out on your actions even when abusing gaming tropes. The music is pretty notable and kickass as well. Try out the demo. http://www.undertale.com/demo.htm Then decide if you are interested in the game's style. Buying the game from the website gives you a DRM free game, a Steam Key + OST. PS. You can date a skeleton. Or pet a dog. Or you just kill them all anyway, you're gonna have a bad time if you do though. A tip in the Demo to get a feel in the game is after (probably) accidentally killing "goatmom" in the ruins, try reloading the game, someone will call you out on it.
Yesterday I read a bit about it and people were saying very good things. I got interested. Someday I will buy it. Maybe in the next Steam sale.
I jumped on this game as well. I thought it was pretty fun but, I will defiantly say this isn't a game for everyone though.
I actually agree as well, the ruins is like the weakest part of the game, but then that part of the game is like 3 years old compared to the rest of the game. Not to mention the possible people who can get offended once the game chastise their playing style, but that's kinda missing the point though. The game is quite story driven. And the non violent option is encouraged. At least the game is consistent in that message and the game reacts to it a lot more than say, Skyrim in which killing everyone in the game is just a slap in the arm and some gold. And they forget after a few days.
