Wouldn't it have been funny if they'd suceeded killing NSYNC at that once concert back in 2001 or so? :smt043
It's not a hoax, it was on the news yesterday (but they didn't mention the band) and saw it on Tiscali.nl this morning...
I know it wasn't. I was mocking the ludicrous things some people say when something like this happens. My friend was comletely dumbstruck. He loved Pantera and Damage Plan. He said he brother was in tears (a 20-year old man). I personally never liked Pantera, and I've never heard Damage Plan, but it's a sad thing to hear.
It was sad to hear this the other day, he was a great guitarist, and now it means we will never have a chance to see pantera have a reunion.
It was indeed very sad news. I was shocked. There was obviously something wrong with the guy, to then turn on the crowd and start shooting them. Still, it brings forward that question - should handgun licenses be stopped? I am glad that it is not as easy to purchase a gun in the UK any more. Of course, if you want something badly enough, especially for the wrong reasons, you can get it... but I think the casual carrying of guns isn't right. I realise some do it for protection, but would we need protecting if others didn't carry them? Its a vicious circle. My condolences go out to the families, including of course Damageplan's drummer, who watched his brother Darrell die. :smt009
I was never a fan of Pantera or Damageplan, but it's always sad to hear about stuff like this. Then again, it's also sad to hear people start advocating the ban of weapons - sometimes the same people outraged at the sensationalistic 'anti-game' crusades that tend to take place after similar incidents! Here's hoping this doesn't become another chance for our various friends across the sea to push their opinions on firearms in a nation very different than their own as far as the subject goes. I hope that was subtle enough.
actually Vinnie seems to be in the hospital, too, not sure if he will survive this ... I too was shocked when I heard about it, I was a big fan of Pantera and Damageplan, too, just recently purchased some autographed stuff on ebay from someone close to dimebag ...
Pantera were great. I was stunned when I heard this, it's just so sad. No motive has been discovered yet, and since the guy who did this is dead too, maybe we'll never know. Fair call, this has the potential to get heated. I will say that I welcome the moves in my own country to restrict gun ownership as far as possible, and would encourage strict punishment for those caught with an unlicensed weapon. If the only weapon available to this obviously disturbed individual had been a knife, things might have been different. Does this mean tighter restrictions on firearms is a good idea? Any answer will obviously be an opinion... so I'll leave it at that.
Very strange. This could lead to many things though, as shooting a band member in concert does not occur very often. I can't think of any time such an occurence hapenned. The dude leapt up on stage and started screaming at Dimebag about breaking up Pantera. Then he shot him and a bunch of other people. I'd never heard of either band before the incident. Still bad.
I had never heard of them, but I think it's a bummer to hear. I'm not going to go preaching about gun control and shit, but if you really think you are safer carrying one, well... that's your opinion.
John Lennon is the only name that comes to mind, but I don't think it was at a concert - then again, I wasn't around to hear about it, either. I doubt you'll get much argument on carrying handguns in public as being unnessicary, but some people have a hard time seperating that from firearms ownership in its entireity, which is why my warning was issued.
Well, I meant carrying = owning. With good ole' W in the white house, you can bet there won't be any shortages of gun shops in the next 4 years.
