Just to make sure you run Enigma Video switcher first, to turn PAL into NTSC mode.

Ok guys because I am epic, I need a bit more of a hand. Again I suck at software stuff, I have found and downloaded the Enigmah video file. I have unzipped it. Do I put the unzipped folder onto the cd/dvd or go into the folder and put the 3 files onto the disc?

Also to confirm I got the correct one, the 3 files are

enigmaswitchfinal (as a zipped folder within the zipped folder)
    PAL-NTSC (System info file)
    Switch.sfv

On eHow it says the file name is video_select_v2.iso

Hey folks I'm back here now. Got anew question. I now know the Xbox can do VGA by getting NTSC RGB out and using a sync separator to get the H/V sync. I also know the Xbox has the H/V sync on dedicated lines.

Question is this: has anyone managed to enable these to get "TRUE" 31 kHz RGB (VGA) ouput straight? I think ignoring these lines is a waste since there are so many BIOS mods out there for almost everything under the sun. No one has figured how to enable true VGA out from the Xbox straight? I'd like this so I can have a stupid simple cable for the VGA and another for NTSC RGB. Then swap my BIOS for a stock style to get component back.

Any thoughts or info on this being possible?

The lines are there. The hardware is there. The Xbox is really just a glorified PC running a special Microsoft OS called a "dash" and having it's own file format. The BIOS has been hacked up until there's nothing left unturned. What's stopping this from being possible then?

Or am I missing something here?

I'd really like to have true straight up VGA coming out of my Xbox...

where are those h/v lines then? because I think we should now that by now. maybe under the gpu ? maybe not even on the board. else I had done it before.
The lm1881 trick is a project i was doing a few years back, but never finished. It looks awesome and should work with existing bios/mods.

Then why they all use a lm1881 ? the datasheets says NTSC, PAL, SECAM, non-standard video sync separation.
Wasnt the problem most screens could not sync to the green channel ? (Sync-on-green)

I may go for the lm1883 then (have to look up what I got home)
Also your link is using a custom bios? my pinouts tell me there is no V and H sync onboard (that was the need of buying a ic to seperate the sync from somewhere)
    http://www.dreamcastbr.com/xbox_video_componente/xboxavippinouttr0.png

and the source I was using back then: http://pictures.xbox-scene.com/2/vga-cable/image007.png

Are those sync signals only using special bios? because normaly the pins are Scart blanking and not connected.
but else then we can directly connect a VGA port. (Yeah im kinda confused, but maybe a newest bios provide these awesome H and V sync)

I think you still need the VGA bios before you can use native VGA out.

LM1881 gives composite sync and Vertical. I assume they are feeding csync into Horizontal.

    The EL1883 gives actual H/V

One or the other has it wrong. But worst case you can just put the sync (LM1881 or EL1883) in side the xbox and still have direct vga out

also some vga monitors or HDTVs support composite sync fed into horizontal sync. for example my samsung hdtv supports this. so you might get away with LM1881. refer to your monitor etc's manual and see if it supports "composite sync"

What I'm talking about is in this diagram: http://www.gamesx.com/avpinouts/xbox.htm

The H and V sync are clearly labeled. I'm asking if those can be enabled with a hacked BIOS so that a sync separator on composite isn't needed for VGA out.

I already linked to that and already said it probably needs the vga bios to enable it.
